Status Development of Cocoa Industry in Indonesia

Production

AIKI estimated that Indonesian cocoa beans production in 2016 was + 340.000 mt, which is
lower 10% compare to last year production of + 377.000 mt.

Cocoa beans import volumes in Indonesia have been significantly increased to 14% or 61.016
ton compare to last year import of 53.372 ton.

Export Trend

Cocoa beans export is falling significantly of 29%, this means that Indonesia cocoa beans
production is on declining trend and majority of the cocoa beans already absorbed by domestic
cocoa industry. Cocoa products export was also faced sharp decline except for cocoa powder
export that still growth of 26%. In total export of cocoa beans and cocoa products in year 2016
was declining 8%.

Indonesian Cocoa Day 2016

The fourth Indonesian Cocoa Day celebration was held in Jakarta on 22 – 25 November 2016 at
Plaza Ministry of Industry. Beside exhibition which followed by cocoa and chocolate industry
and small medium enterprise, on the occasion one day workshop was organized too with theme
“Together we recover production & competitiveness of Indonesia Cocoa”.
