Use of a Chip-Card system at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management

Effective March 1, 2003, the chip-card concept shall be introduced at the Frankfurt School of finance &
Management as a student ID card with various functions.

1. Following self-service functions are available with the machine-readable student ID and thus beyond
opening hours of the central office (student administration):

- Access function into the building and floors

- Cashless payment at the casino and library copy machine
- RMV-Ticket (Local public transportation)
- Library checkout

The access function is identical to the access function of the neutral white card which you have already received.
This means that as in the past you will be able to continue to use the student entrance at Martin-Elsässer-Weg as
well as all internal access functions such as to the library and to the student administration.
Additionally, you will be able to pay with the new card at the Casino and as of the summer-semester 2008 also at
the library copy machine. You can load the chip-card at the loading terminal at the entrance to the casino by
using your Maestro card (previously: EC-card).
Another function of the loading terminal is the printing of the re-writable printing stripe located on front of the ID.
Here you will be able to print out the RMV-Ticket (local Public transportation).
The library already has a reading machine with which you will be able to check-out books through your account.
The previously needed barcodes will then be discontinued. Please take note of the respective information at the
library.

2. Composition of the Chip-Card

The ID is personalized through a one-time imprint of a photo, name, and Student Identification number. On a re-
writable stripe (created by means of thermal sublimation procedure) the respectively valid scope of application as
well as the semester ticket entitlement (RMV) will be printed visibly for the respective time period.

Information regarding the available balance on the card can be read at the self-service terminal and at the cash
registers.

3. Preparation for the chip-card disbursement

Each student is requested to upload a passport photo through the extranet in order to prepare the student ID.
This photo shall not be returned in case of a withdrawal of the application or discontinuation of the
registration, but shall be destroyed together with the picture data upon termination of the registration period.

4. Appropriate handling of the ID card

The card is to be stored carefully. The uploaded balance is to be regarded as cash and in case of loss may
be used by a third party. The Frankfurt school of Finance & management does not assume any liability for
this balance.
The card contains a re-writable stripe which may fade in case of excessive heat impact. You will be able to
reprint the current data at any time at the self-service terminal.

5. Use of the chip card as a student ID

The use of the chip card as a student ID is very personal. The duration of use is tied to the duration of
registration. Any use by an unauthorized third party is to be regarded as fraudulent use of the chip card.
Upon removal from the register of students, the chip card shall loose its legitimization function as a student
ID. Upon termination of course of studies the card shall become property of the student. Any functions no
longer needed shall be deleted by the system.

6. CARD disbursement

The machine-readable Card Shall be disbursed upon signing a confirmation of receipt of the card and an
agreement to use the card properly within the card system.

7. Replacement of the card in case of loss

Loss or damaging of the student id must be reported immediately to the student administration. You will then
receive a replacement card as soon as possible. Please note that we will have to charge you a handling fee
of 20 EUR for issuing of a replacement card. Any possible existing balance on the card will be transferred to
the replacement card.

8. Handling in case of defects

Please contact the reception or student Administration should your card not be accepted, the machines
indicate failure, or if payment is not possible. We will try to remove the defect as soon as possible.

9. Data protection

The general data-protection law applies.
