Project description The Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Report

has been prepared for the Project Remediation Activities on Coal

Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) developed the Project of
remediation and reclamation activities of the coal and ash
disposal facility in Pljevlja, which will contribute to improving
the quality of environment in the area surrounding the thermal
power plant (TPP) Pljevlja. Implementation of the Project will
ensure proper disposal and management of ash and slag in the
upcoming period, and i t will also contribute to an increase in
efficiency of operation of the TPP Pljevlja.

The Project was the subject to previous public consultation during
the EIA procedure in accordance with national legislation and
consultation activities have been conducted in developing the
ESIA.

The remediation a n d r e c l a m a t i o n of the Cassette II
a n d r elocation/diversion of the Paleški Stream is formu-
lated as a “ Project” that will be financed by the funds obtained
from the World Bank and the ESIA Report is mainly prepared
for these two activities. The other elements ( r e m e d i a t i o n o f
the Cassette I, construction and remediation of the
C a s s e t t e I I I a n d c l o s i n g t h e M a l j e v a c l a n d f i l l ) will be
financed from the EPCG’s individual sources of financing
and are considered as associated activities in the ESIA Report
and approached accordingly for assessing the impacts.
This public consultation meeting is being organized in order to
inform public and different stakeholders including the population
that would be potentially affected by the Project and to get
comments and opinions on the Project and on the draft ESIA
Report. ESIA Report can be viewed on the website:

All the comments received during the public consultation will be
documented and addressed in the ESIA report including minutes
with questions and answers from the public hearing.
