Ethanol is
recovered by absorption with 48 kmol/h of pure water in a packed 1 – nich metal intabx
(MTP) tower. An overall number of gas transfer units of the tower is 5.59. Entering gas to the
absorber is 50 kmol/h ; 95 % CO2 and 5 % ethanol. Assuming, K-value of the absorber is
constant at 0.6 . Then, 20% of the liquid mixture from the absorber is vaporized before fed
to a flash drum.
a.) Determine percent recovery of ethanol by the absorber.
