PREFACE

First of all, I would to thank you the almighty Allah SWT that had given
me the chance to join and finish the Sea-Teacher batch 7th program that held by
SEAMEO.
In this Sea-Teacher project I got a lot of experience and increase
knowledge that I wrote here as the report. I hope my report can be useful for the
readers. I am sure that there is a lot of lack of this report. Therefore I absolutely
accept the suggestion from the reader. The last, I say thank you for all the
lecturers, teachers, my parents, my friends, my buddies, my students and all of the
people that meet me during this program and I do apologize if did mistake.

Chapter I
School: General Information and Academic Administration

1.1 School Profile

Pict 1.1 School Profile


The school name is Udonpittayanukoon School and it is located in Mueang,
Udon Thani Province. Udonpittayanukoon shool lead by the director Mr. Acting
Sub. Lt. Bunjong Moontreekaew. It was the biggest school in Udon Thani
province with total of the students around 4.900 students more and about 300
teachers and staff. This school provides lower and upper grade or it calls
Mattayom 1-3 and Mattayom 4-6. For the lower grades (M1-M3), there are four
kind of class; class for specific knowledge project, class for science and
mathematics talent promotion program, international program class or education
center project and regular class. While, for the upper grades (M4-M6), there are
six kind of class; mathematics, science and technology promotion competency
project class, international program class, study planning that focusing on the
mathematics and science ability class (plan 1/ plans), study planning that focusing
on the mathematics and English ability class (plan 2/ Mathematics-English plans),
study planning that focusing on the English and Chinese ability class (plan 3/
Chinese traditional), and study planning that focusing on the English and Japanese
ability class(plan 4/ Japanese plan). There is nine building to study with 3-4 floor

for each building. Besides, hospital school, temple, and other building for
different functions.

1.2 Academic support system


Udonpittayanukoon school provides System for viewing grades and class
schedule system. The viewing grades system creates to manage the grade of the
students and also the quality of the school. While, class schedule system creates
to manage the schedule of every kind of the class since there is about 10 kinds of
classes in different level also. Therefore, it makes Udonpittayanukoon school
different from other school in Udon Thani province and that means this school
has good quality, famous and a lot of parents want their children study in this
school.

1.3 Teaching System


The teaching system that use by the teacher in Udonpittayanukoon is student’s
center. It means the teacher just as the facilitator between the students and the
study. The most active person it must be the students. Although, the teacher still
have to give the explanation before ask the students to do some task.

1.4 Materials and other learning sources

In this school, the sources of the material of learning are book, information
that take from internet (news or etcetera), and for the science lesson the school
provides the real object or tool. For example, when science class has activity to do
with telescope, the teacher and the students use several different telescope and it
was great source of learning because the students will not just imagine but they
can use and identify the part, the function and how to use. There was LCD
projector that can use by the teacher in teaching process.

1.5 Measurement and evaluation system


The measurement and evaluation system that use in Udonpittayanukoon
school to measure and evaluate the students ability in receiving the lesson are
homework, quiz, practical term, mid-term test and final-term test. All of this
measurement and evaluation score of course calculate by the teacher in every
lesson by their own way. The teacher does not only using score only as the

reference but also the affective part of the students so the teacher know about the
character of the students and it will be good for the students because the teacher
will give some warning if they have bad character, such as using mobile phone in
the class or made conversation during the lesson.

1.6 General Curriculum


Actually, there is general curriculum in Thailand that already made and it is
include all of subject. For example:
Strand 1: Language for Communication Standard
FL1.1: Understanding and ability in interpreting what has been heard and read
from various types of media, and ability to express opinions with reasons.
Grade-level Indicators:
Grade 8 (M2):
1. Act in compliance with requests, instructions, clarifications and simple
explanations heard and read.
2. Accurately read aloud paragraphs, news, advertisements and short poems
by observing the principles of reading.
3. Specify/ write sentences and paragraphs related to various forms of non-
text information read.
1. Choose the topic and the main idea, tell the supporting details and express
the opinions about what has been heard and read, as well as provide the
justifications and the simple examples for illustrations.

Chapter II
Pedagogical Contents

2.1 Teaching methods


The teaching that use by the teacher to teach is quite same as in Indonesia
on of the method that often use is scientific approach. This method uses by the
teacher because the learning process as the scientific process that do by the
teacher and students. Besides, the teacher hopes by using this method the students
can think in scientific way, logic, critical, and objective as convenient to the fact.

2.2 Learning material and innovation


The teacher uses a book and in the simple way the teacher use ice cream
stick as the learning material to ask the students by calling their attendance list
and they have to answer the question or give the explanation about the thing that
being discuss. While, the innovation in teaching the teacher uses games to make
the students interest and easier to understand the topic. For the regular class there
is lack of technology in the class so the teacher had no chance to use or prepare
such kind of material in power point or video but the teacher has material to teach
listening by using radio tape and the students can understand the topic or the
practice.
2.3 Sources of learning and technology

The sources of the learning of are book and information that can get from
internet. For the technology, teacher in international program class can use power
point but for regular class it is still lack of the technology in the new building. So,
the teacher use radio tape to manage the listening section.

2.4 Authentic assessment


The authentic assessment that use by the teacher to evaluate the students
are task, homework, mid-term test and final term test. Every teacher can decide
what kind of task and homework that use to evaluate the students and several
teacher use the same kind of task or homework such as essay and fill in the blank.

Teaching Plan

3.1 Curriculum
There is no example of curriculum from the teacher but there is general
curriculum for every lesson and every grade that made by the ministry of
education. One of the example is:

4. Teaching and Learning Procedures
4.1 Pre-task
4.1.1 The teacher shows students pictures of “The weather symbols; sunny,
rainy, windy,
cloudy, snowy, hot, cold” and asks them the following questions. Then, the
teacher sticks the pictures on a board.
-What weather do you like? Why?
- Do you like sunny, rainy, windy, cloudy, snow?
-Have you ever seen snow?
4.1.2 The teacher teaches new vocabulary using flash cards by asking
students to repeat
the words after the teacher.

4.2 Task Preparation
4.2.1 The teacher distributes students Worksheet 1 and asks them to write
the new

studied vocabulary under the correct pictures in Part 1. In part 2, each student
writes the studied sentences in conversation between Mrs. Harris and Mrs. Jane.
4.2.2 The teacher distributes students Worksheet 2: “Weather in
Thailand” which has
some missing information and asks them practice speaking using Information-gap
Task as follows.
“You and your partner will get Worksheet 2 which is incomplete. You
have to ask your
partner to complete the weather in Thailand. Don’t let your friend look at your
worksheet…”
4.2.2.1 The teacher tells about how to do the Information-gap Task.
4.2.2.2 Student A has A sheet: “Weather in Thailand”, and Student
B has B Sheet: “Weather in Thailand”. Student A must ask Student B to tell the
weather and temperature is marked on Sheet A, but not on Sheet B. Student B
must correctly write down the weather and temperature on Sheet B. Then students
reverse roles to speak.
4.3 Task Realization
4.3.1 The teacher distributes students Worksheet 3: “Weather around the
world” which has some missing information and asks them practice speaking
using Information-gap Task as follows.
4.3.1.1 In pairs, Student A has A sheet: Weather in Thailand, and
Student B has B Sheet: “Weather in Thailand”. Student A must ask Student B to
tell the weather and temperature are marked on Sheet A, but not on Sheet B.
Student B must correctly write down the weather and temperature on Sheet B.
Then students reverse roles.
4.3.2 The teacher lets some pairs to present the weather around the world.
“Everyone, I’d like you to present the weather around the world to
the class.”
4.4 Post-task

Chapter IV
Observation on Teacher (s)

4.1 Planning for Teaching


The teacher already planning for teaching therefore when the duration just
about 55 minutes the teacher can use it effectively. After explain about the
material the teacher had to discuss with the students. Then ask the students to
make some sentence or come forward to answer the questions. Since the
material is chalk when the teacher teach she had to be fast in writing in the
board and also the teacher has ability in drawing especially when the teacher
has to give more explanation about new vocabularies such as thunderstorm,
rainy, cloudy or even sunny.

4.2 Preparing Lessons and Materials


The teacher prepare the lessons and materials so it was not waste of time.
Besides, the teacher knows what to do in every step or when she come the
class so the teacher did not need to spend the time to think what should I write
or say.

4.3 Teaching in Class

The teacher was very fluent, able to control the class, master the material,
and effective in teaching process so the students did not feel boring and
understand the lesson. The teacher made the students active by calling their
attendance list to answer the question. In the beginning the students were polite by
greeting the teacher also when the class finished. The teacher taught the students
in the good arrangement so the students were not confused. The teacher used
game to make students curious, did not feel sleepy and they enjoyed it.

4.4 Measurement and Evaluation

The measurement and evaluation that use by the teacher are task, homework,
mid-term test and final test. Besides, the teacher observes the character of the
students.

Chapter V
Teaching Practice

5.1 Procedure of Teaching


The first procedure of teaching of course observe and analysis the
students, class, teacher method of teaching, the material and technology that
can use. The second step was discuss the lesson with the teacher or tell the
teacher if want to use class with LCD projector. After fixing the lesson plan,
made the media that want to use. In teaching process, first step was opening
and in this step should be open by greeting, check attendance list then give the
brainstorming by asking the students relate to the topic to guide the teacher
mind to the topic that want to teach. Then started the explanation about
material, gave new vocabularies and tried to give the students opportunity to
find the definition of the new vocabularies. Next, gave the students task as
evaluation that should be done at that time in group or individual and it can be
a game like jumble word, role play or quiz using application or web. After
finishing the task students and teacher discuss it together to find out the
answer. Last, the teacher asked the students about what they already learn by
stimulate to give explanation or to mention it. As closing, the teacher and
students greeting each other.

5.2 Time Management and Organizing Activities


Since the time just about 55 minutes, the management of time is divided
into three steps. The first step was opening (greeting, check attendance list and
brainstorming) and it manage about 5 minutes. The second step was main
activity or while (explain the material, doing task by using game, and
discussing) and it has 45 minutes to be done. Then, the last step was closing
(evaluate by asking and greeting) and manage in 5 minutes.

5.3 Problem Solving
The problem that relate to the lesson plan or the material of teaching was
solve by discussing with the teacher mentor. While the problem relate to students
during the teaching process had to solve by student teacher herself.
5.4 Classroom Management

Since the class and also the amount of the students were big. The student
teacher use microphone to make the student attention. If there were students try to
play mobile phone, made conversation with their friends or sleepy the student
teacher will ask them to come forward to answer or make the example of the
sentence. The student teacher also go around to the students place when they were
doing the individual or group task and it made them more focused and have
opportunity to ask the student teacher if there were something confused.

5. Concept: Request is an act of asking politely or formally for something.
When people do request it means they need other people’s help. Agreeing is
consent to do something that has been suggested by another person. It sometime
happens when people discussing something or simply ask you about her/ his idea.
Refusing indicate or show that one is willing to do something. It also happen in
the discussing situation or simply ask you about her/ his idea. Offering is a thing
offered, it can be as a gift or contribution. Accepting is consent to receive a thing
offered.

4.1 Pre-task

4.1.1 The teacher asks the student to turn of the fan, or clean the board, or
anything as request as brain storming. For example: Can you turn off the

4.3 Task Realization
4.3.1 The teacher ask the students to be in pairs.
4.3.2 The teacher prepare worksheet, then ask student by their absent
number to come forward and practice in front of the class or, if there are
any volunteer they can practice directly.
4.3.3 The teacher listen and check the student pronunciation and ask the
other students if there are any wrong pronunciation word also tell them
how to pronounce it.

4.4 Post-task
4.4.1 The teacher and students discuss about what happen in the conversation.
4.4.2 The teacher ask the students which one is include in request and offering
expression.
4.4.3 Then the teacher ask to the students about the structure of request and
offering expression that already found.
4.4.4 The teacher and the students review and summarize about the material

Chapter VI
Summary and Suggestion

6.1 Purposes of Practicum


The purposes of this practicum were to improve the ability of student
teacher ability in teaching with different background, culture and character of the
students, to exchange the knowledge between the teacher mentor and student
teacher in teaching, to exchange the good habitual, culture, and language and to
give new color and experience in students learning process by using teacher from
different country so that they will be more interest.

6.2 Procedures of Practicum


In this program there were already scheduled the procedures of practicum.
The first week was observation week. In this observation week, the student
teacher should find several criteria that needed and told before the activity begin,
and knowledge relate to teaching activity. The second week was assistant week.
After finishing observation week, the student teacher had to help the mentor
teacher by doing anything relate to the teaching practice and prepared the lesson
plan for the next week. The third week was teaching practice week. In this week,
the student teacher must be ready to teach and the mentor teacher will observe it.
Sometime the mentor teacher gave suggestion which part of the student teacher
should be improve so for the next meeting will be better. In teaching week, the
lecturer will come to the school and together with the mentor teacher to see and
give the evaluation by fill the evaluation form. The last week was reflection week.
During this week the student teacher still had to go to the school, doing some
presentation about what already got for 3 weeks more.

6.3 Outcomes of Practicum


There is a lot of outcome in this program. First, student teacher increase
their knowledge, ability in teaching, got soft skill and hard skill. Second, the
mentor teacher and the student teacher can exchange the knowledge each other,
the exchange culture, knowledge and language between the student teacher with

teacher, students, lecturer and buddies. Third, give the students new experience
and new atmosphere when learn some lesson from foreign teacher.

6.4 The Challenges of Practicum


Facing a huge amount of the students in a class (37-52 students) made the
student teacher had to be more focus. To be in the big school made the student
teacher become stronger by moving from one building to another and from first
floor to fourth floor. Student teacher tried to learn new language if student teacher
want to make the students did feel strange in teaching process. The difficulties to
find the English curriculum using English that made by the teacher.

6.5 Overall Impression


Everything ran well. Little bit problem can be handle and discuss. The
lecturer, teachers, students and buddies were respect to the student teacher.

6.6 Suggestions for Future Improvement


It would be better to give more information to the new school that be the
first time to collaborate with the university about what should be prepare, for
example the certificate and also the university in this case. For the university, it
would be better to tell the facilities that the student teacher will get in the
dormitory so the students teacher can bring anything that does not available in the
dormitory such as iron and heater.
