Removal.
DANGER
Lift and handle all heavy components using lifting
equipment of appropriate lifting capacity. Ensure that
units or parts are supported by suitable slings or
hooks. Ensure that no–one is in the vicinity of the
load to be lifted.

Remove the cab from the tractor as follows.

1. Ensure that the tractor is parked on a level

surface.
2. Chock the front wheels using suitable wheel
stops.
3. Detach the negative cable (1) from the battery
and insulate.

16. Disconnect electrical connectors (1) and (2).

13
17. Detach hydraulic steering oil supply fitting (1)
and steering oil return fitting (2). Mask off the
hoses to prevent contamination entering the
system.

14
18. Jack up the rear of the tractor and place two
suitable stands (1) under the final drive cases in
order that the two wheels are off the ground. If
necessary, detach the lift rods from the lower
links.

15
19. Sling the wheel using a nylon strap (1), unscrew
the retaining nuts and remove the wheel. Repeat
for the other wheel.

20. Loosen the two bolts on the cab roof and fix tool
no. 380000294 (1) using two m12 bolts and
spacers. Connect the tool to a hoist and keep lift
chains tensioned.

17
21. Remove the bolts (1) and (2) from the cab pillar,
and detach the transmission and fuel tank
breather tubes. Remove the washer motor
electrical connectors and remove the washer
tank (3) from its bracket.

18
22. From the rear of the remote/electronic draft
control. valve assembly, remove the R–clip x 2
(1) from each remote valve fitted.
23. Loosen the nut (2) and slide the collar over the
cable to expose the pin (3). Remove this pin (3)
to separate cable and valve. Repeat for all
remote valves fitted to the tractor. (Ensure the
Remote valve lever in the cab is in the neutral
position to aid removal.)

19
24. Remove the cab to chassis earth strap (1).

25. Loosen the retaining nut, remove the split–pin

and pin and detach the PTO control cable (1).

21
26. Remove the circlip withdraw the pin, remove cab
strap (1), replace pin and circlip. Repeat for the
right hand side of the cab.

22
27. Tractors with Cab Suspension
Remove nut and bolt from Panhard rod
assembly. Remove rod from supports.

23
28. Tractors with Cab Suspension
Remove the rubber washer (1), the retaining
washer (2), and the nut (3) from the
damper/spring assembly. Repeat for the right
hand damper/spring assembly.

29. Tractors with Standard Cab

Support rear of cab and remove rear mounting
bolts (1).

25
30. If fitted remove the cotter pin and detach creeper
gear control idler lever (1).

26
31. Loosen the retaining nut (1), remove the r–clip
(2), and the cotter pin (3) of the hitch release
cable.

27
32. From the handbrake release mechanism,
remove the split pin (1), the cotter pin (2), and the
retaining ring (3). Remove the cable from its
support.

33. Detach lines (1) and (2) connecting the cab

heater to the engine. These are located under
front right side of cab.

29
34. Disconnect connector (1) from the engine
harness to the cab.

30
35. Undo the cab mounting bolt (1) while holding the
nut (3) under the cab floor. Recover the bolt and
washer (2). Repeat for the right side of the cab.
36. Raise the cab slowly, ensure that all cables and
hydraulic hoses are free of obstruction.
37. Place cab on a secure stand.

Cab Installation
WARNING
Always use suitable tools to align the cab
components and the transmission. DO NOT USE
HANDS OR FINGERS.

1. Install the cab to the transmission observing the

following points.
– Re–assembly follows the disassembly pro-
cedure in reverse.
– Adjust park brake as described in Section
7001.
– Remove all air from the service brake lines as
described in Section 7001.
– If fitted adjust the auto pickup hitch release
cable.
– Tighten all bolts to specified torque.
– Engine coolant – check the level and top–up
if required.
– Adjust cab suspension.

CAB SUSPENSION ADJUSTMENT

On tractors with a suspended cab the spring
pre–load and hydraulic damping is set during
manufacture to provide a smooth ride for an operator
with a weight of 90kg (198 Ibs.). For operators of a
different weight, this setting may be adjusted.

Ride Height Setting

The pre–load adjuster is used to set the suspension

to a ’neutral’ position so vertical cab travel, both up
and down, is in balance. If the pre–load is too low
(soft) the bump stops below the cab may frequently
contact the chassis when travelling over rough
ground, if set too high (hard), cab upward movement
may be compromised.

The initial pre–load measurement (1), is 9mm

(0.35in.) and is measured between the lower edge of
the adjuster and the flat face on the threaded collar.

NOTE: To provide optimum suspension 32

performance, the weight of any heavy items (tow
chains, linkages, toolboxes etc.) should be included
in the calculation when adjusting the cab
suspension.

6– 66000 – 06 – 2002
12 SECTION 9001 – CAB

NOTE: Use only the special tools provided to carry

out any pre–load adjustment, using alternative
equipment may damage the adjuster components.
When increasing the pre–load, the top of the
adjuster must not extend beyond the top of the
threaded collar.
Using the special tool (1), hold the threaded collar to
prevent it from turning. Attach the adjusting tool (2)
so it engages fully with the pre–load adjuster and
adjust upwards or downwards as necessary. For
each 2mm (0.08in.) of vertical movement, the weight
factors are changed by approximately 10kg (22 Ibs.).

33
IMPORTANT: For correct suspension operation it is
vital that both suspension units are adjusted to the
same setting. An imbalance in adjustment will cause
unnecessary wear on the suspension units.

Adjusting the Damper Setting

The hydraulic damper may be adjusted to provide

two damping rates according to the weight of the
operator and any equipment carried in the cab.

Turning the screw (1) clockwise until fully in will apply

maximum damping effect to compensate for a
heavier load in the cab. Do not overtighten.

For a lighter weight in the cab, rotate the adjuster

anti–clockwise until screwed fully out.

IMPORTANT: Do not set the screw adjuster to an

intermediate setting as this will cause an imbalance 34
in damper operation. This may result in premature
wear of internal components within the suspension
unit.
