In my opinion, everybody must choose a field for studying or work with regard to his

personality and his interests. Based on these two features I have chosen finance as a major that I
want to pursue my education because financial markets are the most active and dynamic ones and
finance is meant to analyze this markets from every aspect. Finance applies different sciences as
instruments like: economics, statics, math, accounting, and Psychology.

Becoming an expert in finance area is my childhood dream and achieving this dream
requires a lot of skills. Completing several courses created more incentives for me and broadened a
lot of horizons showed me newer paths. Consequently, according to my interest in practical projects
related to my major, I conducted experiments and projects mostly on tax, industries and mines and
transportation and to achieve my goals, I need to learn much more about current developments and
techniques in finance, financial markets, financial applications, hands-on experience of financial
analysis, and needless to say obtaining a Ph.D. is the most important step in this way. Throughout
my master's studies at University of Isfahan, I was given the opportunity to get a detailed knowledge
of my major and its applications by taking some courses with the best professors in their respective
fields. Each subject had its own attraction to me, and I did well in most of my courses especially in
the courses relevant to finance, econometrics and mathematics. Also, I was asked by my advisor for
teaching other master student in Ragheb University and writing articles and participating in
conferences about stock price volatility transmission and stock price bubble simultaneously.

My short-term goal is to actualize my potentials primarily by achieving Ph.D. degree in

finance at ÉCOLE POLYTECHNIQUE FÉDÉRALE DE LAUSANNE (EPFL) University. My
main reason for leaving Iran is receiving homogeneous knowledge level in Iranian universities. My
principle reason for choosing EPFL University is, full of advanced research resources and facilities
in the field of finance, outstanding professors, and a supporting environment at this prestigious
university. The highest level of specialization in an academic field can be achieved mainly through
earning a Ph.D. in that field.

My career goal is to return to Iran (after the successful completion of a postgraduate degree)
and take up a university teaching position in finance and contribute to expand finance’s borders in
the field by doing extensive research. To achieve the mentioned goals, I have selected EPFL
University's finance program. EPFL University's prestigious finance program, its distinguished
professors, and its outstanding research facilities account for my decision to apply for admission to
the doctoral program in finance, and I believe achieving this goal can pave the way to reach my
ultimate goals in the future.
