Topographic Survey :

Topographic Surveys made to determine

the configuration of the earth surface and
to locate natural and cultural features on
it.
The purpose of a topographical survey is to
gather data on the natural and manmade
features of the land as well as the contours
of the terrain itself. This data is then ana-
lyzed and interpreted into a three-dimen-
sional, easy to understand, base plan.
The detail on your survey can vary from site
to site. Examples of features that can be
picked up are: The boundaries to your land,

 As Built Survey :
This service for all kind of works as per latest technical requirements for all au-
thorizations departments in Qatar like ASHGHAL, KAHRAMAA, QP etc.
As the name suggests As Built (or As Constructed) surveys are surveys illustrat-
ing where buildings, pavements, roads and features have been built. Whilst
these surveys are typically completed at the end of the construction process
they may also be carried out during the different stages of construction.
During construction As Built surveys are used to demonstrate to the building
inspector that the project is conforming to regulations. It can be a useful tool
during a large project to show what has been completed and allow for schedul-
ing adjustments to be made. This type of survey could also be used by a contrac-
tor to determine payment schedules relating to different aspects of the build,
also an As Built survey could confirm that the building process complies with
the original plans.

GPS Survey
(Global Positioning System)
Using a global network of satellites our receiver/
transmitter is able to lock on and provide accurate
data, due to a continually transmitting satellite
signal that enables the receiver to calculate its 3
dimensional position (latitude, longitude and al-
titude), giving extremely accurate ground level lo-
cations. This information can be de-coded and ex-
ported directly into CAD applications.
Further to this, Ordnance Survey no longer updates
and calibrates the local benchmark network making
GPS the only reliable way of relating survey levels
and heights back to ordnance datum, which is im-
perative for Flood Risk Assessment along with the
majority of planning applications. GEC are able to
provide you with reliable coordinates and level da-
tum from the Ordnance Survey active GPS network
to assist you with any height issues on your land.
GPS equipment used by GEC is controlled and used
by one person making the process quicker and
more cost effective for you. In many cases one team
member will work on our GPS equipment picking up
heights and levels alongside another team picking
up boundaries and features. Your survey is instant-
ly locked onto an ordnance Survey grid and large
areas of land can be surveyed at exceptional but
accurate speed.

The benefits of using GPS Surveys are:-

* Compared to conventional techniques there are
far fewer operational limitations.
* A greater accuracy of positioning physical fea-
tures over large areas that can be utilized in maps
and models.
* This is a faster, less labor intensive and more cost
effective way of capturing data than other tech-
niques .

 Aerial Survey.
Photogrammetry
One of the most common, versatile, and
economical forms of remote sensing is
aerial photography. Historically most ae-
rial photography has been film based. In
recent years, however, digital photography
has become increasingly widely used. Ae-
rial photography gives a bird’s eye view of
large areas, enabling us to see earth sur-
face features in their spatial location. GEC
now will use the UAV aerial photos tech-
nique. In this technique GEC can get a res-
olution of 1 cm with 100m flying height,
and can build also the DTM directly with
very accurate results

Quality Assurance Policy :
Galaxy Engineering Consultancy (GEC) follows a strict quality assurance policy which is de-
veloped and is being implemented for all GEC activities to assure the best quality services
and production (maps, ... , etc.) and that all works done in accordance with the required rele-
vant standards and specifications.
The quality assurance is based on quality planning for the operation and in process inspec-
tion. The use of correct instrument suitable for the accuracy and nature of work required.

GEC Policy can be summarized in the following points:

01- Check lists must be prepared for all procedures.
02- Field and office work must be carried out by a qualified staff and technician and under the
supervision of qualified and experienced engineers.
03- All activities must follow a clear system consists of procedures and working instructions.
04- In all procedures the quality assurance steps must be mentioned clearly in the procedure
flow chart as well as in the procedure statement.
05- Quality assurance steps must be explained in details inside the different working instruc-
tions of the different procedures
06- Quality assurance activities must be reported, documented and audited.
07- Quality assurance concept and practice must be introduced to novices in training courses.
08- Each report issued by the project manager is checked and commented by the office man-
ager.
09- A quality engineer is responsible for the implementation of the quality plan

Quality Assurance and Quality Control Procedures :

1- Quality Assurance Actions:

The following quality assurance actions must be done in the process of establishing, observ-
ing and calculating GPS ground control points:
1-1 Referencing all Temporary Bench Marks (TBM) to government Permanent Bench Marks
(PBM) as close as possible to the site of the project.
1-2 Improve the order of PBM (1 or 2) the better the accuracy acquired for TBM .
1-3 Location of TBM points must be chosen in such a way that it must be as far as possible of
any strong electromagnetic fields (transmitting antennas, etc.).
1-4 Instrument height must be measured three times to assure that no blunders happen, and
the average of the three observations must be calculated and considered.
1-5 Starting and closing times must be recorded and reviewed accurately.

2- Quality Control Actions :
The following quality control actions must be done in the process of establishing, observing
and calculating GPS ground control points:
2-1 One of the government points of known coordinates must be used as a check point and
its observed coordinates (after processing and adjustment) is to be compared to the known
coordinates, the difference must not exceed the allowed tolerance according to the specifi-
cations of the project.
2-2 Height of instrument must be measured in meters and feet, then they are compared to
control that no error happened in height measurement.2-3 Points names, heights and known
coordinates must be rechecked in office before processing.
