ABOUT UNSTITCH: FASHION AND
SUSTAINABILITY FAIR

As we recognize the best of what Philippine fashion brings to the world

and celebrate those who advocate it, we are faced with the challenge
of rethinking its impact for the future of the industry and the planet.
This is the idea behind Unstitch: A Fashion and Sustainability Fair.

Unstitch is a two-day event that promotes a different kind of fashion,

design, and mindful lifestyle to the community through a series of talks,
workshops, pop-up stores, and performances.

Together, let's reimagine fashion, design, and sustainability.

KEY OBJECTIVES OF UNSTITCH
Our guests range from thought-leaders, creative directors, entrepreneurs, artisans,
industry professionals, and ethical fashion enthusiasts. Unstitch brings together
hundreds of minds from across the country to converse, inspire, and connect as we
explore the dynamics, challenges, and solutions for fashion and sustainability. We aim to:

Gain a better understanding of sustainability and how fashion is instrumental to

achieving it
Showcase Filipino craftsmanship and design innovations of homegrown brands and
initiatives
Sell products that champion sustainability
Create a platform for fashion workers (artisans, creative directors, weavers,
seamstresses, etc.) to share their journeys and stories about how they made the
pieces we wear

OUR TARGET GOALS

Spur conversations, actions, and policies about fashion and sustainability in Davao
City
Celebrate sustainable business models that uplift culture, craftsmanship, and dignity

We’re developing a collaborative movement that practices sustainability in areas that

involve fashion production and consumption. With this collective consciousness, we will
be able to correlate how fashion affects natural resources and human equality.

THE PLAN
Unstitch will drive meaningful partnerships and collaborations with stakeholders in
the industry: academe, designers, artisans, thought-leaders, policymakers, and
consumers. It is our intention to bring people together to converse, inspire, and
connect to explore the realities, dynamics, challenges, and solutions for fashion and
sustainability.
THE VENUE: ARTISANAL

SESOTU
"Sesotu" is a T'boli word which means to make one. The artisans are the heart of an ethical
fashion industry. We put a focus on the makers through a simple show-and-tell by social
enterprise Sesotunawa's master artisan entrepreneur, Joel. Together with the team, he
demonstrates the Tboli art of temwel or brass casting.

UPCYCLED JEWELRY WORKSHOP
Learn how to make paper beads of different sizes and shapes and out of different types of used
paper. Printing companies produce a wide range of potentially hazardous chemicals, requires
energy, and generates wastes, the cumulative impact of which can be substantial, affecting air,
water, and land. One of the top companies in the metro, Midtown Printing, collaborated with
the Global Shapers Davao Hub to start conversations on waste management.

This workshop aims to create awareness and inspire creativity by upcycling Midtown's paper
wastes into paper beads. Led by Toril Kalambuan Association's Elena Mabano, you can create
enough beads in about an hour to make a complete ensemble of earrings, bracelet and necklace
to match any outfit at any time. Paper beads are great for making light weighted jewelry.

Invited collaborators: Midtown Printing, Toril Kalambuan Association
