7) Seven Doctrines of Salvation. (1) forgiveness, (2) Justification, (3) reconciliation, (4) redemption,
(5) sanctification, (6) newness of life, (7) adoption.

Study 55 pointed out man's sevenfold position as a sinner from the understanding of the Bible. This
study will also list seven definitions (doctrines) that tell us of the benefit we gain by being in good
standing with God.
These seven elements are divine works which designate God's side of salvation. This is what
God grants us when we, as sinners, enter into union with Christ. When we accept the gift of salvation
through repentance, faith, and baptism, God lifts us out of sin and places us with Christ, and bestows
upon us these seven gifts. We now have...

1. Forgiveness brings the debtor cancellation of sins.

Matthew 26:28 - “for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for
forgiveness of sins.”

Luke 24:46-47 - “46 and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and
rise again from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would
be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.”

John 1:29 - “29 The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God
who takes away the sin of the world!”

Acts 2:38 - “38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus
Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of Holy Spirit.”

Acts 3:19 ; Acts 5:30-31 ; Acts 10:43 ; Acts 13:38-39 ; Acts 22:16, 18 ; Romans 3:25 ; 2 Corinthians
5:19 ; Ephesians 1:7 ; Ephesians 4:32 ; Colossians 1:14 ; Colossians 2:13 ; Colossians 3:13 ; 1 John

2. Justification gives the condemned criminal imputed righteousness.

Romans 3:24 - “24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in
Christ Jesus;”

Romans 4:4-5 - “4 Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is
due. 5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith
is credited as righteousness,”
 Romans 5:15-21 - “15 But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression
of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one
Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. 16 The gift is not like that which came through the one
who sinned; for on the one hand the judgment arose from one transgression resulting in
condemnation, but on the other hand the free gift arose from many transgressions resulting in
justification. 17 For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much
more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life
through the One, Jesus Christ.18 So then as through one transgression there resulted
condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of
life to all men. 19 For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even
so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous. 20 The Law came in so
that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,
21 so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal
life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Galatians 5:4 - “4 You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by
law; you have fallen from grace.”

Titus 3:7 - “7 so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the
hope of eternal life.”

3. Reconciliation gives the enemy peace.

Romans 5:1 - “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our
Lord Jesus Christ,”

Romans 5:9-11 - “9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved
from the wrath of God through Him. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to
God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by
His life. 11 And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
through whom we have now received the reconciliation.”

2 Corinthians 5:18-21 - “18 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself
through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 namely, that God was in Christ
reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has
committed to us the word of reconciliation.20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as
though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled
to God. 21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the
righteousness of God in Him.

Colossians 1:20-22 - “20 and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made
peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in
heaven.21 And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil
deeds, 22 yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present
you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach—
4. Redemption brings liberty to the slave.

1 Peter 1:18-19 - “18 knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or
gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, 19 but with precious blood, as
of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.

1 Corinthians 6:20 - “20 For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your
body.”

Titus 2:14 - “14 who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify
for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.”

5. Sanctification changes defilement into holiness.

Hebrews 10:10, 14, 29 - “10 By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the
body of Jesus Christ once for all.”
14 For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.
29 How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the
Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified,
and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

Hebrews 13:12 - “12 Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people through His own
blood, suffered outside the gate.”

6. Newness of Life gives life to one who was dead in sins.

1 John 5:11 - “11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in
His Son.”

James 1:18 - “18 In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we
would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.

Titus 3:5 - “5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but
according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by Holy Spirit,”

Romans 8:2 - “2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of
sin and of death.”

7. Adoption brings us into a new relationship with God.

Romans 8:15 - “15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you
have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!”

Romans 8:23 - “23 And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit,
even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the
redemption of our body.
Romans 9:4 - “4 who are Israelites, to whom belongs the adoption as sons, and the glory and
the covenants and the giving of the Law and the temple service and the promises,

Galatian 4:5 - “5 so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive
the adoption as sons.”

Ephesians 1:5 - “5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself,

according to the kind intention of His will,”
