Contour in 4 Steps:
Open Autocad, Excel containing Data then SW_DTM.
1. Import Data from excel:
Select 5 Columns in excel respectively Serial Number, X value, Y value, Z value and Remark. In SW_DTM, Click
Points>Import Points From EXCEL
The Points will be plotted on Autocad.

2. Process:
Select feature layers if required.

3. Triangulate:
In SW_DTM, Select Triangulate, then click on Remove Duplicates, Raw Triangulation and Boundary Adjustment.
In Case Error appear on Raw triangulate, triang1.exe is available at installed folder (C:\Program Files
\Softwel\SW_DTM_Free) , run it.

4. Draw Contour:
Boundary line
Contour in Autocad:
Boundary line stopped interpolation between these 2 points, as a result
no contour in between these 2 points.

¾ If you need smooth contour, you can choose “Draw Round Contour as well.
¾ To control the contour plotted at unnecessary places, Draw boundary at required area and

Drawing Cross Section And Profile
1. Draw Alignment
Draw Alignment (Polyline, PL) at the area where you want to draw cross section
and Profile of Ground (or if polyline already exist you can use that.)
Note: You cannot use 3dpolyline. (ie. 3p in autocad command)
In Autocad
Alignment within Contour Area. Make sure the
Alignment doesn’t run through area without
contour.

2. Select Alignment
Pick
Button
Mode:
Select L‐Profile, if you need only Horizontal
Profile.
Select L‐Profile and X‐section, if you need
both. X‐Section Option will be activated.
You can specify user chainage in notepad and save it with somewhere.
When you check on “Include User Chainage”, dialogue box will appear and browse
this notepad file.

3. Now click on Pick Button and Give file name and location where you want to save
cross section and profile data. autocad window will be activated and “Select
alignment nearer to the starting chainage” will display in commandline. Select
alignment nearer to the Starting Chainage.
4. Draw Profile:
Set the Option according to the requirement. Then click on Execute. Total Number of
required Sheet will display. (You can specify number of column and row with the help of this
number. You need to click on Back and then Execute once again). Click on “Draw” to draw
From Default File: Recently Extracted
data will be used to Draw
From External File: If you got the profile
data in csv file.
From Excel File: If you got data in excel
the profile and pick a reference point on autocad where you want to draw.

Difference Between “Include All Chainage” and “At Interval (in m) of ….”
Include All Chainages: The data displayed at every At Interval (in m) of ….: The data displayed at specific
chainage with change in Elavation. interval of chainage (10 m in above image)
5. Draw Cross Section: Similar to drawing Profile.
Click Execute, then click Pick Point.
