To,
Dear Sir
I am fascinated to work with the UNOPS, because I believe to achieve a lasting positive impact on social development
and to address emergency climate condition through infrastructural development works requires the composition of
knowledge, ability to develop standards in addition to guidelines, negotiating skills and hands on experience with the
private sector in development supported by disciplined rigorous project management. I want to explore the boundaries
of my performance and increase my competency to take part in infrastructure related development programs to ensure
the balance between philanthropy and financial viability. Being an expert in Civil Engineering and managing several
projects of international organizations (Such As UNICEF, UNOPS, IMF) at once with strong analytical and critical thinking
background, I would like to offer my skills and expertise for the position Senior Civil Engineering Specialist with UNOPS.
My professional motivation is the desire and passion to visualize infrastructure and facilities to covert sustainable
projects and vision into reality. In the following I wish to highlight three of my key competencies and personal passion
for working with UNOPS, which makes me an ideal candidate for Senior Civil Engineering Specialist position.
Engineering Design & Supervision Knowledge- Strict Adherence to Code & Specification
From High rise to Small Scale Duplex building, from Residential to Industry, from R.C.C, Steel to Bamboo- is my area of
expertise in design. While analyzing, stabilizing & designing these structures as per Architects’ requirement helped me
to learn different international codes and standards. Apart from designing new structures I have designed projects that
are subjected to renovations. One of the critical projects was to renovate a residential building that were designed &
built before the 80s. I had to provide structural design to renovate the structure as per new architectural requirement
and ensure stability against seismic loads based on new Bangladesh National Building Code -2014.
Also I needed to develop QA\QC policies, Construction Material Specifications, Technical Specifications and other
relevant documents for several projects. Furthermore, for projects such as UNICEF House at Agargaon, Learning Center
Inspection Project (another UNICEF Project) at Cox’s Bazar different types of inspection report, training and
maintenance manual were developed by me in addition to design and reviewing these structures.
All these heterogeneity has transformed me to an effective combination of structural engineer, project engineer and
QA\QC expert.
I believe that my background and diverse experience could bring effective problem solving skills and support the
UNOPS’s mission at the same time provide an outstanding opportunity for professional development and personal
growth.

Asif Msotafa Anik
