CONCLUSION

The experiment was carried out in order to study the measurement of level using two
different instruments, which are differential pressure / level transmitter and sight glass with
millimeter scale. The experiment was conducted at level measurement in two conditions. The
first condition was the tanks, where both open and closed tank were used. The second condition
was the temperature, where the experiments were repeated with the heater on or off, depending
on the lab manual. These steps were taken to determine the differences of the pressure in an
open and a closed system. The experiment was also conducted with different suggested levels,
which were 700 mm, 600 mm, 500 mm, 400 mm and 300 mm for both open and closed tank.
The data collected shows that the temperatures remain constant for both reading of Table 1 and
Table 2. This happened because there was no heat transfer process happening since the heater
was off. The temperature stayed at 32.0°C. Meanwhile, for Table 3 and Table 4, the
temperature increased as the heater was on. The temperature increased from 40.0°C until
43.0°C. Based on the results, it could be concluded that the temperature increases when the
density of water is decreased. This is due to the density of a liquid influences the pressure.
Thus, the accuracy of pressure level indicator is decreasing. Hence, the changes of the accuracy
will increase the standard deviation.
