My essay will explore how global warming effects animals, us ,and the consequences in
the future. I want to know how quickly our earth is deteriorating and how our style of living will
change because of that. I would also like to explore if our favorite animals will adapt or go
extinct. If they do become extinct, how soon? Is it too late to decrease the rate at which the earth

Philip Bump, a national correspondent for The Washington Post, writes that our
lawmakers are not taking action to the climate problem that is elevating quickly. A group of
students asked Senator Dianne Feinstein to support the Green New Deal, but she declined to take
apart in any of it. The article explores a little bit about the political fight over whether people
believe the earth is warming and those who deny that human activity caused it. Later on the
article shifts and explores the pace at which we should respond to climate change.
The writer’s purpose was to raise awareness about how quickly we should attack this
problem. I think this article is aimed towards the politicians in the government now. There are
charts with citation included in the article along with links to their evidence. This article would
be placed in my essay where I address if it is too late to change the pace of action.
“Climate Change Causes: A Blanket around the Earth.” NASA, NASA, 5 Feb. 2019,
This article by NASA states the facts sand science behind why the earth is warming.
They break down the gases that contribute to the greenhouse effect and what role they play.
Reading deeper into the article, they touch base on how human activity has played a part in this
crisis. Our industrial activity has raised the carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere. Towards the
end of the article, they state that human activity is not the only contributor. Solar irradiance is the
The intended purpose of this article was to inform the general public about what is really
causing the earth to decay like this. I would put this in my essay where I explain what exactly is
causing such an enormous event. I can easily tell this source is credible because they include a
reference page at the bottom of the article as well as links to reports they used to back up their
evidence.

Jan-Erik Lane explains in this publication that the UNFCCC, United Nations Framework
Convention on Climate Change, aims to decrease the carbon dioxide being put into the
atmosphere. Many people have remarked that global warming is becoming irreversible and could
cause human extinction. This piece explains a theory that the earth would warm up around 5
degrees each year, but that theory did not get attention until around 1989. Reading more and
more, the article lists many dangers of climate change. Lane includes charts and statistics about
ways we could change how we live to benefit the earth in the long run.
This piece is bringing to our attention how dangerous the impact of global warming can
be. It is calling out to people by showing charts and providing statistics to use different sources
of energy. This piece is very reliable because they cite many references and have the charts cited.
Lane also refers to many scientists work. I would use the information provided to explain the
Leonard, Lou. “Effects of Climate Change.” WWF, World Wildlife Fund, 2018,
www.worldwildlife.org/threats/effects-of-climate-change.
Lou Lenard is senior vice president of World Wildlife and taught climate change and
energy around the country. His article includes causes of global warming like burning of fossil
fuels and human contribution. He explores the effects of global warming on coral reefs,
elephants, dolphins, and more. Leonard goes on to say what we can do to help stop progressing
This article is reliable because Leonardo has studied climate change and energy. Also
included towards the bottom of the article are the references and their links. I think this article
will help me appeal to people’s pathos because of all of the animals and environments affected. I
Letzter, Rafi. “Climate Change Could Make These Super-Common Clouds Extinct, Which
Would Scorch the Planet.” LiveScience, Purch, 25 Feb. 2019,
Letzter, a senior journalist for Live Science, writes how one of the most important cloud
could go extinct because of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The cloud Letzter is referring
to is the stratocumulus cloud. Although that type of cloud is complicated and fast changing, they
are very important. He goes on to explain that if the carbon dioxide levels reach 1,200 ppm then
the cloud starts to break up. Once those clouds are gone, they are less likely to reappear even if
This article is reliable because they use references that are cited at the bottom of the page
and they also include cited pictures and videos. I think Letzter is trying to inform and reach out
to the general public. He is trying to convey that our actions have consequences that we have to
pay for later on. I would use the information in this article to help explain what our actions are
Pappas is a writer for Live Science with a certificate in science communications. In this
article, Pappas opens up with what exactly global warming is. As you read deeper, she goes in
detail about how and why the earth is heating up. She mentions that since the beginning of the
industrial revolution humans have been changing the balance of gasses in the air. Later on she
goes in detail about how the ice caps are melting, ocean disruptions, and extreme weather.
I find this article very reliable. Pappas has a graduate certificate from the University of
California. She also lists an abundance of references and cited her videos and pictures. I feel like
she is trying to reach the general public to inform us and make us aware of what our earth is
going through. Out of all the articles, this is the one I find the most credible.

Wang writes about the East Asian winter monsoon. This winter brings servere cold and
heavy snowfall all over the East Asian region. Wang goes on to study how this winter is being
affected by global warming. They found that this winter is tightly coupled with sea level
pressure. The article is scattered with charts and predicts of what this winter is East Asia is going
to look like. The article is broken up into sections like what the results of global warming can do
I found this very article very interesting. It gives us another perspective on global
warming by showing its affects outside of the United States. I find this source very credible
because they include pages and pages of references and various charts. I would use this in my
essay to help describe the effects of global warming. This article will help me establish different
