Egg Drop Challenge
Challenge: Groups of engineers (no more than 2 per group) will work together to construct a
contraption that will protect an uncooked egg when dropped from a given distance.
Guidelines/Rules:
- You may only choose supplies from the list below OR supplies can be brought from home (with
teacher approval)
- Contraption must be built within the class time provided (no more than THREE class blocks
allowed). Project does not leave the classroom.
- Must fit inside the box provided (milkcrate - 5” x 12” x 9”)
o Any attachments/extensions must be within these parameters (ie. A parachute).
- Cannot weigh more than 2-4 pounds.
- Before receiving materials, your group must illustrate a picture of a mutually agreed upon
design.
- Use the Engineering Design Process attachments to identify the problem, plan solutions, make
a model, test the model, and reflect/redesign on your creation.
- Awards will be given for:
o Best looking (One per CORE)
o Ultimate Survivor (One per CORE, drawn randomly if multiple survivors per CORE)
- Your design needs to be innovative and creative. I will not approve any
poorly designed projects!!!!!!!!
