Introduction
In this document i will be planning on my design methods for my digital portfolio, this

document will include how my portfolio is going to look, what it will contain and how will do

this.

1. Home Page
The aim of this website is to show my work i have done in the past, the purpose is to help
me find work in IT. I will be showcasing and presenting work i have done previously
including my strengths and skills in IT. The target audience is employers to show them my
work so they can be interested and hopefully employ me.

This website will contain the home page which will include, About me article, Contact

information and Location information. The other pages in the website will be all the units i

have done work on for example unit 1, unit 2 etc.

2.1. About Me.

My name is Mujahid Shah, I am 16 years of age, I am currently living in

Bradford West Yorkshire (my hometown), I have studied at Dixon's allerton

Academy and now i am studying IT in shipley college. I am planning on doing

a Level 3 course and then moving on to university and achieving a degree. I

have decided my career to be based around IT because i enjoy working in IT

and learning new things about technology, as technology is the future. In my

spare time I like to socialise with my friends and family. As you will see from

the picture, I like to keep occupied in my spare time by exploring new

hobbies, such as zip lining etc. This helps me keep fit and healthy.

2.2. Purpose.

The aim of this website is to show my work i have done in the past, the purpose is to help

me find work in IT. I will be showcasing and presenting work i have done previously

including my strengths and skills in IT. The target audience is employers to show them my

work so they can be interested and hopefully employ me.

In five years i want to be leaving university with an degree in the IT sector, to achieve this i

need to pass level 2 and 3, and then finally pass university.

3.3 Ten Year Plan

In ten years i want to be working in the IT Sector, to do this i need to pass level 2, level 3,

university with a degree and then find a job i enjoy doing.

4. Units.
4.1 Unit 1 - The online world

This unit is based on the Online World, which includes information on online websites, such

as social media, e commerce, government websites and many more. The following picture

is a printscreen of a piece of my work in Unit 1 explaining the purpose of different websites

on the online world.

This unit is about Technology systems and how they work, this includes information on,
Operating Systems, Internal storage devices, Graphical user interface, Off the shelf
software and Data structure. The following printscreen is a piece of my work in unit 2.

Unit 9 is about spreadsheet development and how you can effectively use one for example

using all its features to the best of your advantage.

5. Design Justification.
Describe why you have chosen the screen designs used above - include how it meets the

purpose of the website and is suitable for the target audience.

Also write about how the assets you used enhance the user experience.

I have chosen the design below for my home page because It is nice and simple making It

easy to understand the website. I have included an article on the home page under the title

“About Me” to make the home page more interesting. I have included images in the home

page so It looks appealing and professional. I have included a navigation bar so It helps the

users to navigate around the website. I have used the font Open Sans to make the text

simple and understandable. I have set the Text colour to white on the main banner so it

stands out with the purple background. The rest of the text throughout the page is in black

so it is simple however eye catching at the same time as the background is white.

I have chosen the design below to be my unit 1 page because the theme Is consistent

throughout the page making It look appealing and simple to read and understand. I have

included information of the work included in unit 1 to make it interesting and

understandable to the reader. I have also included screenshots of my work to make the

page look professional. At the bottom of the page I have included external links to pieces of

work from unit 1, this makes the webpage more interactive. I have used the font Impact to

make the text stand out. I have set the Text colour to white on the main banner so it stands

out with the black background and suits the house style at the same time. The rest of the

text throughout the page is in black so it is eye catching as the background is white.

I have chosen the design below to be my unit 2 page because the theme Is consistent

throughout the page making It look appealing and simple to read and understand. I have

included information of the work included in unit 2 to make It interesting and

understandable to the reader. I have also included screenshots of my work to make the

page look professional. At the bottom of the page I have included external links to pieces of

work from unit 2, this makes the webpage more interactive. I have used the font Impact to

make the text look bold and big. I have set the Text colour to white on the main banner so

it stands out with the phone background. The rest of the text throughout the page is in

black so it is simple however eye catching at the same time as the background is white. I

have used a picture of an iphone as the background because iphones relate to technology.

I have chosen the design below to be my unit 3 page because the theme Is consistent

throughout the page which makes it look appealing and simple. I have wrote about the

work i had to do in unit 3 so the text is interesting and not boring for the user. I have also

included screenshots of my work to make the page look professional. At the bottom of the

page I have included external links to pieces of work from unit 3. I have used the impact to

make the text stand out. I have set the Text colour to black on the main banner so it suits

the dark background. The rest of the text throughout the page is in black so it is simple

however eye catching at the same time as the background is white.

I have chosen the design below for my unit 9 page because It is simple making It easy to

understand the website. I have included an article on the page about the unit to make the

page more interesting and understandable. I have included images in the page of my work

so It looks appealing and professional. I have used the font impact to make the text stand

suits the mood with the holiday relaxing theme. The rest of the text throughout the page is

in black so it is simple however eye catching at the same time as the background is white.

I have chosen the design below to be my unit 11 page because the theme follows through

with the house style which makes it look professional and simple. I have wrote about the

work i had to do in unit 11 so the page is interesting. I have also included images of my

work to make the page look appealing. At the bottom of the page I have included links to

pieces of work from unit 11. I have used the font Impacto make the text understandable as

it is big. I have set the Text colour to black on the main banner so it suits the effect with the

sunrise background. The rest of the text throughout the page is in black so it is simple

however eye catching at the same time as the background is white.

information of the work included in unit 13 to make It interesting to the reader. I have also

interactive. I have used the font impact to make the text stand out and eye catching. I have

6. Alternate Designs

This is my first alternative design, the reason i did not choose this design is because the

usage of colours change throughout the page making it look unprofessional as it does not

have a theme, also the colours that have been used are very bright and could cause

someone eye strain, the colour of the text and background used makes it hard to read

what the text says. The page does not include any images other then the picture of the

computer.

This is my second alternative design, the reason i did not choose this was because there

was a lack of images on the home page which makes the page look unattractive, the

colours used make the page look unprofessional as it does not have a proper theme

throughout the website.

The slides are really good because it has all the unit pages and on each unit page has a link
to each piece of work. Then it has explanation to explain what the unit is about which is good.
each page.

improvements:

1. first you will need to add colour to your slides for example the background is white and the
boxes are two plain. it needs to be be colourful

2. You need to alter the alternative pages , they look alike

13. Conclusion.
So far on this unit i have learnt many things such as, How to plan a design for a website so

it can help me when it comes to producing it and how to design a website and make it look

professional.
