Body Body
Teaching- Narrow in on two specific countries such as Australia QR Codes
and Antarctica and discuss with the class the weather and
climate of each country, the specific climate zones they are in
and the difference between each. Modelling on the board a clear
comparison so students can visualise.

Teacher then begins to model the next activity asking students

what to bring in their suitcase if they were going to Antarctica.

Teacher then introduces the main activity. Eight QR codes will be mate_of_Australia
set up around the room each with a link to a specific country,
focusing in further on four of the six major climate zones. Two
QR codes will be set up from a country in each climate zone.
Using the class iPads students will need to scan the QR codes and
pick one country from each climate zone.

Using the app Canva on their iPads students have a choice to Canva iPad app
either:

- Create a postcard for each of the four countries, using

the postcard template on Canva and write a postcard to
a friend inviting them to visit you in each country you
have chosen from the four climate zones. On each
postcard you have to include what climate zone the
country is in with a description of it, what weather to
expect and what items they need to pack in the
suitcase.

OR

- Using the suitcase template on Canva create a poster of

what you would pack when travelling to one country
from each of the four climate zones. Use pictures and
words to pack your suitcase and write a short
description of each climate zone next to the suitcase.

Conclusion
Conclude the lesson by getting students to leave their posters or
postcards on their desk and rotate clockwise around the tables
so they can observe everyone else’s hard work.

Have a discussion using a country from one of the QR codes

about what might be needed in the suitcase. Ask students who
did that country to show the class their creation and discuss why
they packed what they packed.
