A DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH FOR

KINDERGARTEN

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, pupils are expected to:


a. identify objects that begin with the sound /z/,
b. classify objects that begin with the sound /z/ from other objects with different initial sounds; and
c. appreciate the importance of the sound /z/ in a word.

Now, I will show you different pictures that begin with
that sound.

Next what is this? A Zebra.


Okay have you seen already a Zebra in person? Not yet teacher
What is the color of a Zebra? A stripe color teacher.
Can you say Z-z-z-zebra? Z-z-z-zebra

Next what is this? A vegetable teacher.


What kind of vegetable? It is a green summer squash, a
family of a squash. Who among you is eating a squash? Me teacher.
Very good. It is more important to have a healthy body.

Zither is one of the stringed instrument.

Lastly, what can you see? A magnifying glass.


A magnifying glass uses for zooming in small objects.

a. Activity

At this time, we are going to have an activity. I will group


you into 2. Each group will collaborate to have a good
output. What you are going to do is to paste all of the
pictures with a sound /z/ in the leaves part of a cut-tree
to make the tree grow again.

b. Analysis
Now what are some words that begin with the sound /z/
can you read all of those in the blackboard? (Children are reading)

c. Abstraction

As you can see on the tree it is more alive now because


we put some leaves and branches with the help of words
with an initial /z/ sound. The same with the sounds, it is
important to know the sound of letters like /z/ so that we
can easily identify and read the word correctly.

d. Application

Okay class, look around you and find objects with initial (Children are enumerating objects)
sound of /z/. Enumerate things you can see in the four
corner of your classroom.

IV. EVALUATION
Circle all the words including the picture that begin with the sound /z/.

V. ASSIGNMENT
At your home, list atleast 5 things that you can see that has /z/ sound whether it is in the beginning, middle, or end.
