National Institute of Technology Meghalaya invites applications in Prescribed Format from Indian Nationals
and OCIs possessing consistently good academic record and requisite qualifications and experience for posts of
Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and Professors in various Departments of the Institute. Interested
candidates must fill-in on-line application by 16th April, 2019 and send the signed hard copy application with
payment receipt and other relevant documents (self attested) to reach the “Registrar, NIT Meghalaya, Bijni Complex,
Laitumkhrah, Shillong-793003” on or before 26th April 2019. Online application form and other details are available
on the Institute website: www.2018nitm.nitmeghalaya.in. Applications not received within the due date shall be
rejected. As regards to the upgradation/promotion, internal faculties belonging to any category may apply.

Prescribed Minimum Qualification and Experience

As per Schedule ‘E’ of NITs Statutes (issued vide Gazette of India No. 651, dated July, 24 2017)
(Enclosure – A), MHRD letter F.No. 33-9/2011-TS. III dated 6.10.2017 (Enclosure – B) and MHRD letter F.No.
33-9/2011-TS. III dated 17.11.2017 (Enclosure – C). Further, any other relevant notifications issued by MHRD till
the date of interviews, shall be applicable with this advertisement.

General Instructions and Information

1. Only Indian nationals and OCIs need to apply.


2. General / OBC Candidates are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs. 1,000/- (Rupees one
thousand only), SC/ST candidates need to pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs.500/- (Rupees five hundred
only) through online mode only; while PwD candidates are completely exempted from paying the application
fee. Candidates are advised to read details given in the “Check Payment Process” link carefully before making
the payment.
3. The number of posts may vary depending on vacancies available and new sanctions received from the Ministry.
4. Reservations will be as per GOI norms. Instructions from MHRD issued till the date of interview will be
applicable.
5. Relaxation of age for candidates under the Reserved Categories shall be as per Govt. of India norms.
6. The Institute reserves the right to fill in or otherwise, any or all the advertised posts.
7. For the departments, which are not having any vacancy, movement in higher Academic Grade Pay or cadre shall
be carried out as per specific selection process but it will be restricted to only for serving faculty members of the
respective departments.
8. The applicants should furnish details of all the qualifications and relevant experience and attach self-attested
photocopies of marks sheets/ certificates along with the hardcopy of the application form.
9. Minimum requirement of qualification and / or experience may be relaxed in respect of exceptionally outstanding
candidates.
10. The date for determining eligibility of candidates in every respect i.e. qualification, experience and preferred age
limit etc. shall be considered as on the closing date, i.e. the last date of the submission of application form.
11. Persons in employment should submit their applications through proper channel with a forwarding note of the
employer. However, a hardcopy of the application form along with the Payment Receipt may be sent as an
“Advance Copy” to ensure receipt of application before the last date.
12. Incomplete application, application received without Payment Receipt, application not in the prescribed form and
application without self attested photocopies of certificates / mark sheets, proof of date of birth, caste certificate,
etc. will be rejected.
13. The print out of filled-in application form should be sent by speed/registered post/courier to the “Registrar,
National Institute of Technology Meghalaya, Bijni Complex, Laitumkhrah, Shillong-793003”, in an
envelope superscribing “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF …., Department of
………………………………..”.
14. The Institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates for interview to a reasonable limit on the basis
of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement and other academic
achievements.
15. Mere fulfillment of minimum qualification and experience do not entitle a candidate to be called for the interview.
16. The Institute may consider candidates whose area of specialization lie outside those stated herein, provided these
persons have an outstanding record.
17. Applicants are advised to provide phone numbers and e-mail address in their own interest to facilitate prompt
communication. If short-listed, all communications regarding interview, etc. will be made preferably through e-
mail.
18. The applicants are advised/required to visit the Institute website www.2018nitm.nitmeghalaya.in regularly. The
list of candidates short listed for further participation in the selection process such as presentation/interview etc.
will be displayed on the Institute website.
19. Applicants may attach additional sheet(s), wherever necessary, mentioning the serial number.
20. Applicants willing to apply for more than one post / department must send a separate application form for each of
the posts.
21. The short listed candidates may be required to appear for presentation/seminar in the respective departments, in
addition to facing the Selection Committee. No TA/DA will be paid for attending test / interview.
22. No correspondence whatsoever will be entertained from candidates regarding postal delay, conduct and result of
interview and reasons for not being called for the interview.
23. In case the last date falls on a holiday / series of holidays, the last date of receipt of application will be the next
working day (till 5.00 PM only).
24. Any corrigendum / addendum or modification, if any, would appear only on the institute website and not be
published in any Newspaper.
25. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
26. Legal disputes, if any, with National Institute of Technology, Meghalaya will be restricted within the jurisdiction
of Shillong, Meghalaya only.

How To Apply Online

Step1 – Visit the official website 2018nitm.nitmeghalaya.in

Step 2 - Click on the ‘Apply Online’ link given in front of Advertisement for Faculty Positions at NIT
Meghalaya.

Step 3- Users can register (click on “Register”) and proceed with the registration process by providing their
basic personal and application fee payment details after which, they will be redirected to their complete
application form page to complete the process.
Step 4- Candidates can re-login again to their application profile to complete the form in case they are not able
to complete filling up the form or wants to make necessary changes.

Step 5 - Please read and follow the instructions mentioned in the form carefully, as you go on filling the form.

Step 6- Users can do the final submission of their applications after which, they will not be allow to make
further changes to their applications except to view their status and take printout of the same.
