The term ‘lifelong/adult learners’ is increasingly used for people who want
to make use of learning tools and materials, which would traditionally be
available in libraries but now are readily accessible via internet and through
educational outreach programmes of major institutions that lead two broad
categories of education --- Distance Education & Social Interactive
Education.
On the positive side, the computer is more widely used in the country than
five years ago. Internet use is widespread, with the number of dedicated
users (those who own an ISP account) having gone up from a mere 2000 to
approximately 50,000+ in just 4-5 years.
