I am an emeritus faculty member of the National Institute of Technology, Warangal ( India’s

premier engineering college), and it gives me immense pleasure to introduce Mr. Sai Goutham
Sunkara for a graduate program in your esteemed university.

I have taught him various courses like Basic Electronics Engineering in his first year, Signals and
systems in second year and was lab instructor for Linear IC applications lab in third year . I have
interacted very closely with Mr. Sai Goutham over the past three years and I have come to
know him as a very motivated and hardworking student. His academic performance is
consistent and he stands among top 6% (rank 7) in a class of 130 students with CGPA 8.6.

When I taught signals and systems to his class, I asked students to implement various signal
processing modules in MATLAB .He did all the assignments most effeciently. I saw his eagerness
to learn the subject and devoted extra time for him outside the class to help acquire strong
grip on fundamentals of various subjects. He did a project on “SPEAKER RECOGNITION” under
my supervision .The code he developed is very robust and it could identify the speaker even in
very unfavorable conditions. He provided large number of test cases to prove the accuracy and
reliability of his code.

In the Linear IC applications lab, he developed simulations of various interesting circuits and
demonstrated them in the class. He constantly strived hard to get practical understanding of the
subject. He participated actively in many technical events and won many prizes. His idea
Fingerprint based identification got selected for the “Altera NIOS design contest” .He was one
among the 15 students who were shortlisted for the final round across the country. Apart from
this, he has good communication skills that help him to communicate his ideas effectively.

Many of my students did exceedingly well at prestigious universities like Cornell , Texas Austin,
Purdue etc., Sai Goutham is a student par excellence and can significantly contribute to the
growth of any university. He is hardworking, sincere, committed to his work and very
enthusiastic. It was a privilege teaching him and I wish him all the very best for his future. I
