Please offer a few brief comments in support of the checklist ratings.

Domain 1: Planning and Preparation

- Mr. Zelenky’s class preparation is probably the skill that I noticed the most about his teaching. He puts an
exceptional amount of thought into his overall planning and preparation.
- Mr. Zelenky greets students at the door, and genuinely cares how they are doing.
- Mr. Zelenky has really made the use of technology a priority in class, he has also has shown the ability to be
prepared for multiple types of learners. He has printed notes available for students who do not like to use
their Chromebooks.
- Mr. Zelenky has demonstrated the ability to assess his students both formally and informally. His tests have
been well received by students, and he has asked for their feedback on his tests and assignments.
o He has taken time to grade HW assignments for accuracy and has had all assessments back to the
students by the next day.
- It should be noted that Mr. Zelenky has demonstrated the ability to be prepared for class in ways that, even
as a veteran teacher, I am impressed by.

Domain 2: The Classroom Environment

- Mr. Zelenky is highly respectful to his students.
- He uses multiple modes of teaching to reach different types of learners.
- Mr. Zelenky generally waits for students to quiet down before starting class, and when that does not happen
he will command the students to quiet down please before he starts.
- Mr. Zelenky has not had to deal with many situations where students have been difficult, however he has
been able to handle those situations in ways that were not a disruption to the classroom.

Domain 3: Instruction
- Mr. Zelenky has had very well designed instruction, his planning has made this very seamless.
- I would like to see Mr. Zelenky improve upon his responses to student questions. He has done a good job of
this in general, but there have been a few times where students asked questions, and his responses, although
correct, have been a little bit above the level of the students, which made them difficult to follow.
o I believe that Mr. Zelenky has shown improvement on this topic, but it has been one that we have
specifically talked about, and he has shown growth in.
- Mr. Zelenky has demonstrated the ability to be flexible throughout the semester, especially as our weather
has made planning difficult at times.
Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities
- Mr. Zelenky has done a very good job on reflecting upon his teaching.
o He has especially done this in combination with his student assessment, where he has spent a lot of time
considering how he could make his teaching/assessment better.
- Mr. Zelenky is well prepared. In fact, I have had students say to me, “Can you do ______ the way the Mr. Z.
does it?”
- Mr. Zelenky has done a good job of communicating with parents, especially on the positive note by sending
home hand written post cards.
o He has stood out specifically with one student, who is quite unique. He has a hand written letter
prepared to sent home, that was translated into the student’s parents’ native language by a colleague of
his.
- Mr. Zelenky has shown a high degree of professionalism to all faculty and staff members.
o If anything, I think that he could be a little less formal at times with his dealing
