What is the most effective methods for you to learn another language?

What would be the most interesting ways to learn another language? Nowadays is

very important to speak at least two different languages in order to get many benefits in

some areas like business or education. People who speak a different language than their

native is more capable to get scholarships or get a good job; in fact, people who speaks

only theirs mother language is considered illiterate. However, learning a new language

usually turns out to be boring because it is annoying or hard for learning, but there are

some methods that allows to learn a language easily such as listen it frequently, read and

write as much as possible and meet with a native speaker.

The first thing that I have appreciated very useful to learn a new language is to

listen it frequently What I mean is that people should change their everydayness with new

activities that involved the foreign language such as watching movies or series, listening

their favorite music and so on. These activities will help their to improve their ability to

understand an unknown language; in fact, according to Jeffrey Kluger says “ Multilingual

people, studies show are better at reasoning, at multitasking , at grasping and reconciling

conflicting ideas” (2013, pg1). This means that people who spent more time listening

different language, their brains will assimilate new words from the context and then it
will be able to make connections between sentences that will help to understand the main

ideas. Moreover, if people train their listening they are going to be more capable to

understand what people are trying to tell. In addition, pronunciation and vocabulary are

going to be improved. Therefore, it is a good idea try to perform every area of our life in

the language that we are interested to learn.

Secondly, I think that reading and writing in a foreign language as much as

possible would be helpful to improve the learning of this new language. People can start

buying books, which are easy to understand, and be interested to read, for example, they

can choose best sellers such as Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, The Little Prince,

etc. These kinds of books contain an easy understandable language that would catch the

attention of a lector and would create a passion to continue reading. Even though at the

begin it could be a little bit boring, but with perseverance in this method people will be

able to learn lot of grammar and vocabulary. Furthermore, writing in the foreign language

that we are interested in would help us to improve our grammar skills and the vocabulary

that we are learning is going to increase; we will be obligated to learn new words in order

to give sense to the sentences.

Third, I consider very useful try to find a native speaker for starting a conversation.

The way that this method is going to help us is by improving our pronunciation because

we will hear the correct one. In addition, we will learn different kinds of communication

such as colloquial phrases, like idioms, kinds of phrasal verbs and so on. Moreover, our

vocabulary will increase and maybe this native person can correct our mistakes in

grammar and pronunciation.

 In conclusion, learning a foreign language do not need to be difficult for anybody

if they find the correct way to do it. Therefore, for me the best way for learning a new

language is make it fun and enjoy by doing daily activities, or even our favorite things in

a different way. Thus, meeting people from other cultures to increase is the best option to

improve our new foreign language. If you want to learn something new, make sure that

you like it.
