WHOLESOME SCATTERING GAME TO THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS OF STATE HIGH SCHOOL 16 OF PALEMBANG. BY: MASMINA 2013111033 The problem of this study was formulated in the following question: “Is it effective teaching writing descriptive paragraphs by using Wholesome Scattering Game to the eighth grade students of State High School 16 of Palembang?”. The objective of this study was to find out whether or not it is effective teaching writing descriptive paragraphs by using Wholesome Scattering Game to the eighth grade students of State High School 16 of Palembang. This study was conducted through pre-experimental method with one group pre- test and post-test design. The population was all of the eighth grade students of State High school 16 of Palembang. The sample of this study was 31 students from class VIII.8 by using cluster random sampling. The data were collected through written test, pre-test, post-test and analyzed by using matched t-test. Based on the sudents’ scores, the findings of the study showed that there was statistical differences between the students score in the pre-test and post-test. the students’ average scores in pre-test was 57.96 and in post-test was 72.12. The scores it showed that the average score in post-test was higher than the students’ average in pre- test. The writer also found that the result of the matched t-test calcualtion between the students’ score in post-test and pre-test was 6.616. The scores it was higher than the critical value of the t-table with 5% significance level in one-tailed testing 1.697. It indicated that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. In anaoher way, it could be stated that teaching writing desciptive paragraphs by using wholesome scattering game to the eighth grade students of State High School 16 of Palembang was effective.
