Annotated Bibliography

My essay will attempt to look into the importance of physical education and the impact that it can play
on both mental and physical health. In addition there will be a closer look taken at physical education
and physical activity and how it relates to the school systems that teach our children.

This article, found in the Research Quarterly for Exercise & Sport takes a closer look into student’s
physical activity motivation and their level of enjoyment towards physical education. The article was
published in September of 2017, making it a current resource. In addition to that the relevance and the
purpose of the article allow for a closer look into students attitudes towards physical education and
physical activity and making the education of physical activity one that will last students a lifetime.

The purpose of this research is to educate students so that they are prepared for a lifetime of successful
physical activity, activity that will help to enhance mindfulness, motivation and to allow students to truly
understand the meaning behind the importance of physical activity. The topic I’m research is
foundationally set to investigate the topic of physical education and even more so the integral part it
can play for a child’s development. This journal allows readers to put learn more about a variety of
topics that interest them for any reason and credible and respected information will be found.

This article will prove to be a great resource throughout the last half of this course when we’re working
to pull information together and begin to piece our paper together little by little. I will use this resource
to find credible information in conjunction with other resources that will help me develop and well
researched topic resulting in my paper.

Let’s Move started in 2010 when First Lady Michelle Obama decided to launch the initiative of getting to
the foundation of childhood obesity and then tackling the problem head on. Her goal was to spread
awareness and gather support from individuals at every level, including parents, schools, government
officials and everyone in-between.

The material on this website has been “frozen in time”. According to the website that means that the
website is no longer monitored or updated. This is because of the change in office but it doesn’t take
away the credible and respected work that went into the initiative, thus making everything on the
website a valuable resource for my research topic. Although no longer kept up to date the URL have a
.gov within it and the site moves you through introduction (learning the facts about the initiative, to
learning how to eat healthy, getting active, how to take action and then how to join the movement and
become a part of the solution.
