These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the
activities appropriately so that students will learn well. Always be
guided by demonstration of learning by the students which you can
infer from formative assessment activities. Sustain learning
systematically by providing students with multiple ways to learn new
things, practice their learning, question their learning processes, and
draw conclusions about what they learned in relation to their life
experiences and previous knowledge. Indicate the time allotment for
each step.
Administer the Pre-Assessment Part I on page 2-3
Introduce to the learners to the world of sports officiating; it’s basics
w/c include both the personal and professional qualities that an
officiating official should possess
What is your favorite sport? Explain the lesson by citing an example.
(i.e Does the game basketball needs an officiating officials? Yes. So
who are considered as officiating officials? Is a referee considered as
an officiating official?)
What are the qualities of officiating officials? Let us review the ethical
and legal standards of officiating and learn about the ethics and
guidelines of an officiating official. Group the class into 4 and let them
play the role of a player and an officiating official.
What are the ethical standards of an officiating official?
Discuss one by one the ethical standards of an officiating officials.
Let the students play and portray the ethical standards of a good
officiating official by playing a certain game such as basketball and ask
them to document their game
Ask the students to cite an example of displaying good behavior
towards other aside from playing a certain game. Ask them to relate it
to their (daily) experiences.
Ask the question “Why is important to display or show good behavior
and positive attitude towards other people and what its impact to
them?”
Let the students play role portraying a good leader/moderator/facilitator
following the ethical standards and guidelines of an officiating official
