My essay will attempt to answer why so many teens are dealing with depression and
anxiety at such a young age. I want to know why the chemicals in some kid’s brains are
different than others. I also want to find out what cause this to occur and how it can be treated.
It could be a problem with teens comparing themselves to others, home life problems or stuff
that goes on in school. If so how can these problems be treated safety? How do you help your
teenager go through these battles that are hard to treat? This seems to be a growing problem
that many teens are having to go through alone at such a young age.

This article is written by a series of people from the European Child & Adolescent
Psychiatry. The article was published in 2008 which makes it a little out of date but the test
they conducted in the article was still factual. The authors do not have much information up
on them but there is a long list of references at the bottom of the page. This helps show how
factual it is.

The author’s purpose for writing this article is to show the effects of anxiety in young
adolescence. This is tied into depression in teens and hits my other point for my paper. The
author liked stated above does not have much information on them, but the references are all
accurate. The intended audience for this study is for younger adults. Anyone who is facing
mental health problems can gain some insight by reading this article.
I will use the information in this article in my paper, when talking about anxiety. A lot
of my paper so far is about depression, but anxiety also ties into it. This will be useful in my
paper to show a study that they did, and prove how big of an issue it is. It will show how my
research proposal is true, and that parents need to pay more attention to their teen’s mental

The author’s purpose for writing this article is to talk to the public about teens
struggles through the early years. When teens go through puberty, their brains are still
maturing. This also includes the area in the brain that manages emotions. The article discusses
young adulthood and the risk that teens face to be dealing with depression. The audience is
aimed more at teens struggling but also anyone who has depression. The source is reliable
since it comes from an organization based site. There are no ads appearing anywhere and the
I will use this information in my paper to discuss how teen’s minds are not fully
developed when they are young. This makes it hard for them to deal with emotions and hard
feelings. It will support my research proposal, since I am discussing how teens are struggling
nowadays. This article contains different information then my other sources that will be

still pretty relevant. Underneath the title it lists all the institutes and hospitals that the article
The purpose of the article is to discuss how young teens are likely to get depression
and anxiety symptoms if they smoke at a young age. This is something that you would not
think of in a depression essay, but I think it is important to touch on. Under each of the
articles it lists the authors and what institutes they work for. All the sources are listed at the
bottom of the paper and shows how credible it is. The intended audience is anyone who is
facing depression while being a young smoker. They may not realize that the smoking is
causing it.
I will use this information in one of my paragraphs to touch on this issue that a lot of
people don’t think of. Perhaps there is a lot more depression because drug usage has
increased? This article uses a lot of research and study to back up their work. This will help
strengthen my research proposal. I believe that there are many causes for depression/anxiety
and this point hit it right on the head. I hope to use this article for a lot of my research.

This article is written by Stanford Children’s Health. The page is run by staff
who are dedicated to pediatric and obstetric care. The physicians and health care teams goal
is to provide information for treatments and complex conditions. There are more than 60
locations and the online website carries factual information by the staff. The article does not
list a date when it was last updated, but with it being from a University the information
appears relevant.

The author’s purpose for writing this article is to inform that public that depression
does not only affect adults, but children as well. That is one thing that pulled me into this
article. It is important to note that the disease can affect anyone. The audience is anyone
seeking information on depression. It talks about how depression is more than just a phase.
Even though the date it was last updated isn’t listed, the information is still factual since it is
from a health organization. You can find the credentials for the source which help support it.
I will use this information in my paper to discuss the ways to receive help and what
exactly depression is. This source will build off my other source and help add more
information to that section. This source will support my research proposal, since I stated that I
believe that teens deal with anxiety and depression. This article supports that idea and talks
about how it isn’t just a phase that teens go through. I think that this source will be useful for
my paper.

This article is written by Liz Szabo from USA Today. USA today is a major news

I will use this information in my paper in a series of ways. There is a whole section on
behaviors of depression. I plan on using this information throughout my paper. I will use the
risk factors section to discuss how depression needs to be treated. Some teens are unable to go
through this alone. It will help strengthen my research proposal. It supports my idea that teens

is that the article discusses suicide while my other ones do not as much. Overall, I would say
