Preface
In order to minimize the absorbed dose, make the focal spot to distance 1
as long as possible. (Minimum 45 cm)
1
Be sure to carry out aging before taking an X-ray radiograph.
Before taking an X-ray radiograph, running-in operation of the X-ray tube unit
called "aging" is required.
^ Reference "3.2 Aging the X-Ray Tube Unit" P.3-6
1
1
After the X-ray tube unit is used for a long time at a relatively low tube
voltage (below 80 kV), if it is used in the range near the nominal highest 1
tube voltage (100 kV or more), discharge may result. This is an
accidental arc caused by the weakened aging effect at high tube voltage
after the X-ray tube unit is used for a long time at a lower tube voltage.
In this case, carry out the aging procedure described in Chapter 5 1
before operating the apparatus.

Preface
When moving the arm unit or system, the operator must pay close
attention to ensure that the limbs of both operator and patient are not
caught between the system and any peripheral units.
Be especially careful when near a wall, changing the direction of the system
or moving it backwards.
• Do NOT move the system on a slope steeper than 7 degrees or over steps
higher than 2 cm. When stopping the system, always park the system on a
level place, avoiding slopes, since there is a danger of the system rolling
down the slope and overturning.
• Moving the system along surfaces that cause strong vibrations, such as
roads outdoors, over large steps and down steep slopes is dangerous.
Avoid these if possible. Do NOT stop the system on a slope.
• When moving the system, look out for any obstacles in front of it.

3.3 Moving the System
3
• When moving the system, make sure that there are no obstacles
ahead.
The obstacle detector may not be able to detect light weight obstacles in 3
front of it, such as IV stands or cables from other equipment. Hitting an IV
stand or running over cables from other equipment could be very
3
dangerous to patients.
• Do NOT move the system over any steps or bumps greater than 2 cm,
or slopes steeper than 7 degrees.
Always stop the system on a level surface and avoid sloped surfaces.
Failure to do so may cause the system to roll down the slope or tip over. 3
• Do NOT operate this system outdoors.
This system is designed for indoor use only. Using this system outdoors
may lead to system failure.
3
The system can be moved using the normal travel mode, low-speed travel mode, or inch-mover
buttons.
By squeezing the brake release bar on the lower surface of the grip bar and pushing on the bar, the 3
system moves in the direction it is pushed. In addition, the system's power-assist technology allows
changing the travel speed according to how much force is applied.
3
M503-E027 MobileArt Evolution High Power Type (32 kW) OPERATION MANUAL 3-9
3 Basic Operation
The traveling speed of the system will be limited to about half the normal speed and the degree of
power-assist is limited to about half of its normal level.
J Inch-Mover Buttons
Holding down the inch-mover buttons with the arm unlocked allows the movement of the system
forward or backward more slowly than in the low-speed travel mode. Maximum speed is about 5 cm/
s.
The inch-mover buttons can be operated continuously for about 10 seconds.
To continue using the buttons, press them again.
Motor power is lower than in the low-speed travel mode. If the system cannot be moved due to thick-
piled carpet, or other resistance, use the grip bar.
The system does not move if both inch-mover buttons are pressed simultaneously, or pressing one of
the buttons while the other is already pressed.

• During charging, the battery indicator shows the charging status, not the amount
charged.
• Please note that the battery voltage rises temporarily immediately after charging.
As a result, the battery indicator will indicate more than the actual remaining
charge. After the system is used for a short period, the battery display will display
the actual remaining charge.
If charging is interrupted, the battery indicator will initially be lit up completely.
After a short period, the number of lights may decrease suddenly, but this does
not indicate a malfunction.
• Charging will take a long time if performed with the DR system operating. When
charging the battery, stop the DR system after its operation is finished (only with

6.3 Storing the System for a Long Period
6
Avoid leaving the system unused for extended periods.
If the system is not to be used for an extended period, follow the procedures below to
6
reduce battery wear. This does not, however, extend battery life. Shimadzu does not
guarantee the battery life even if the following procedures are implemented.
6
J Storage Procedure
Fully charge the battery before storing the system.
1
2 After charging, turn the main circuit breaker OFF. 6
While storing the system, keep the ambient temperature between -10 °C
3
and 40 °C.
It is recommended to keep the temperature below 30°C.
6
Recharge battery once every 6 months during storage (given that ambient
4
temperature is 25 °C). 6
Double this frequency for every 10 °C increase in ambient temperature above 25 °C.
After storing the system for an extended period, run the system until the
5 6
battery indicator displays no illuminated portion, then charge the battery
and repeat this cycle several times to restore battery performance.

and reflection from structures, objects and people.
*1: Field strengths from fixed transmitters, such as base stations for radio (cellular/cordless) telephones and land mobile
radios, amateur radio, AM and FM radio broadcast and TV broadcast cannot be predicted theoretically with accuracy.
To assess the electromagnetic environment due to fixed RF transmitters, an electromagnetic site survey should be
considered. If the measured field strength in the location in which the MobileArt Evolution High Power Type (32 kW)
is used exceeds the applicable RF compliance level above, the MobileArt Evolution High Power Type (32 kW) should
be observed to verify normal operation. If abnormal performance is observed, additional measures may be necessary,
such as reorienting or relocating the MobileArt Evolution High Power Type (32 kW).
*2: Over the frequency range 150 kHz to 80 MHz, field strengths should be less than 3 V/m.

NOTE
For transmitters rated at a maximum output power not listed above, the recommended separation distance d in
meters (m) can be estimated using the equation applicable to the frequency of the transmitter, where P is the 8
maximum output power rating of the transmitter in watts (W) according to the transmitter manufacturer.
• At 80 MHz and 800 MHz, the separation distance for the higher frequency range applies.

The factory-set anatomical program numbers (APR numbers) and their radiography parameters are
indicated below.
APR for Chest and leg are set 32 kw electric power, using the large focus, to minimize image blur
from body movement. Exposure time may be extended and tube current decreases in some
radiography settings when choosing the small focus.
Electric power* of High mAs settings like APR for Abdomen and Waist have no difference between
the large and small focus.
APR Numbers 1 to 72 are number of CXDI-50G/50C/55G/55C's APR Number. APR Numbers 73 to
144 are number of CXDI-60G/60C's APR Number.
If APR Number 1 to 72 selected, FPD/Cassette Radiography Mode Button's Right LED is
illuminated.
If APR Number 73 to 144 selected, FPD/Cassette Radiography Mode Button's Right LED is
blinked.

• Pressing the (FPD/cassette radiography mode button) will not switch the
mode from cassette radiography to DR radiography. 9
Select a radiography mode from the DR system to switch the mode from the
cassette radiography to the DR radiography. Once done, the corresponding
anatomical program is selected and the radiography parameters are changed to
those registered to that program. 9
• When the (user settings button) is pressed to switch to the change settings
mode, and then the (user settings button) is pressed again to return to the
normal mode, the anatomical program changes. From that point, select the 9
radiography mode using the DR system once again.
Settings can be changed manually only using the X-ray control panel. 9
Radiography parameters for the DR system cannot be changed manually.
When manually setting the radiography parameters, refer to the methods described below.

• Inadequate aging may result in the X-ray tube unit discharging during
radiography.
^ Reference "3.4.1 Locking and Releasing the Arm" P.3-13
• If the DR system exposure time exceeds 1000 msec, the DR system ready time is
extended to about 30 seconds.
• When using the DR system for a long period of time, connect the power cable to a
power outlet and switch from battery power to outlet power in order to reduce
battery power consumption.
• If the system screen is blank after pressing the DR button, and once it is
confirmed that the power cable is not connected to the power outlet, turn both the
key switch and the main circuit breaker to the OFF position, and restart the
system.

9.3 Basic Operation
3 Press the hand switch button to the first level (radiography preparation). 9
Radiography preparation begins. The status indicator lamp will blink green.
9
After radiography preparation has finished, the (radiography ready indicator lamp)
will be illuminated and the status indicator lamp is illuminated green and the collimator 9
lamp is illuminated again.
* • If an X-ray is not radiated within 30 seconds after the radiography preparation is finished,
the preparation will be automatically cancelled. To prepare for radiography again, release
the hand switch from the state pressed to the first level.
9
• To illuminate the collimator lamp again after the radiography preparation is finished, see
"4.1 User Settings" P.4-2.
• Confirm that the DR system is READY before attempting radiography. Attempting
radiography before the DR system is ready will result in error F68 and prevent radiography. 9
• If error F68 appears, cancel the error by confirming the READY indicator on the DR system
touch panel monitor and then pressing the FPD radiography selection button.
9
• Long-term exposure extends the DR system READY time to about 30 seconds.

After confirming the DR system READY indicator, press the hand switch
4
button to the second level (X-ray exposure).
Pressing the button starts X-ray exposure.
During X-ray exposure the (X-ray irradiation indicator lamp) is illuminated, a sound
is emitted, and the status indicator lamp will be illuminated orange.
After X-ray exposure, the [kV] and [mAs] displays will blink for 5 seconds.
The status indicator lamp will blink until the battery has recharged.
* • During radiography the hand switch (first and second levels) must be continuously and fully
depressed until the exposure finishes. If the switch is released before completion of the
exposure, the exposure will be terminated prematurely. In this case, the film may not be
clear due to insufficient X-ray exposure.
• After performing radiography, another image cannot be taken until the battery is recharged.
Wait until the (standby indicator lamp) is illuminated before performing any operation.
Depending on the radiography parameters, this may require 1 minute or more.
• When repeating radiography preparation, release the hand switch (first and second levels)
once.
