We, the researchers, would like to thank ourselves for doing the work

equally and for giving time to finish this project.

Also, we give credits to Engineer Jason Bryan E. Mutuc for enabling us

to learn about Arduino and its functions.

With this mere project, we would like the driver to have a better and

safer driving experience.

Purpose and Features

Sonar or ultrasonic sensor can detect objects in the space behind

the car. Ultrasonic are much more inexpensive than radar sensors,

but have a limited range of detection. Because they’re effective

at short range, sonar sensors are frequently used for parking

assistance features.

Car rear distance alarm can detect an object within 2 meters

from it. It sends signal to the driver when its going to (crash)

to an object. The nearer it gets the faster the buzzer beats.

(It is more applicable for the big trucks to use as they are more

prone to crashing.)

Software and Firmware Source Code Listings and Descriptions

For this project, we opted to use the Arduino UNO since it can provide

a 7V-20V input voltage; we only needed 5V to operate. In order to program

it, we used Arduino Software Ver. 1.8.7 (IDE). We then did a research on the

Car rear distance alarm using Ultrasonic sensor.

Here’s a copy of our code:

Subassembly and Installation Procedure

1. LED Matrix Display

The matrix is placed on the top section of the case and is protruding from

it. It cannot be disassembled from the case.

2. Buttons

The buttons are placed on the top section of the case as well and must

be pressed gently as to not break it. It too cannot be disassembled.

3. Screen Display

The screen display can be found near the matrix. It is fixed onto the board

and therefore cannot be disassembled.

4. Arduino

The Arduino is placed inside of the board. Great care is necessary when

handling the Arduino. Make sure that the wires are not disconnected after

configuring/ changing the setup.

5. Case

The casework of Snake Box is of a rectangular shape. It has a

detachable side which is the top side and three wooden planks that

serve as walls.

Operating Procedure

1. Plug in to power bank

2. Wait for a few seconds

Operating Hazards

We recommend the Snake Box from ages 5 and above.

Do not shake the box to keep the circuit intact.

Keep away from any wet surface or possible spillage. Remember,

electricity DO NOT match well with water.

If not working properly, do not try to shake the box. Open the lid lightly

and see if any connection is disconnected. If not, bring to any person with

knowledge of circuits as not to “ground” yourself by touching the wires

carelessly.
