Vistabrik solid units may have "Stippled" pattern embossed on face of block. Hollow units may have a "Stipple" pattern, "Bevels" or Other design
embossed on the outer face of the block. Hollow units with a "Stipple", "Bevel" or other design may have the "Designer Select Bevel Series" name
associated with the pattern name.

Blocks are laid with 1/4 in. horizontal and vertical mortar joints; mortar consisting of one part portland cement, 1/2 part hydrated lime, and
screened sharp sand equal to 2-1/4 to 3 times the amount of cementitious material (cement plus lime), all measured by volume.

The horizontal rows of blocks shall be reinforced with Nos. 8 to 10 gauge galvanized wire mesh for the full length after the first and every other
row.

Glass or mineral wool or polyethylene shall be used to fill the remaining spaces in the lintel and jamb grooves to provide for expansion.

Exterior and interior jamb and lintel edges are to be caulked with a fire retardant type waterproofing mastic.

Sills for the blocks shall be coated with a water-based asphalt emulsion, to provide for waterproofing and movement.

Steel or masonry lintels/jambs for the blocks shall be provided with grooves/sufficiently deep to permit blocks to extend a min of 1 in. into the
groove and to permit a min of 3/8 in. thickness of expansion material to be inserted into the groove. Groove openings shall be oversized by 1/2 +
or - 1/8 in. to accommodate placement of packing material and fire retardant type sealant around lintels and jambs on both sides of the panel.

Steel lintels and jambs shall be secured to the structure of the building with 3/8 in. bolts provided with heavy galvanized washers in 2 in. slotted
holes space 12 in. OC.

Panel anchor framing construction may be used in lieu of steel angle/or masonry groove framing construction. Panel anchors shall be 20 gauge
perforated steel strips 24 in. long by 1-3/4 in. wide, galvanized after perforation. Panel anchors shall be used to secure the glass block panel at
both jambs and across the lintel. Panel anchors must be bent within the expansion joint, spaced apart vertically to coincide with the panel
reinforcing and 16 in. apart across the lintel. Panel anchors must be completely embedded in the mortar joints of the glass block panel, extending
a minimum of 12 in. into the joint. The panel anchors shall be attached to the inside of the masonry jambs with 2 steel expansion shell anchors,
1/4 in. to 3/8 in. in diameter, per anchor. Self-tapping screws may be used to attach panel anchors to steel lintels.

Both exterior and interior jambs and lintel edges are to be caulked with fire retardant type sealant as specified by the manufacturer's installation
instructions.
