HIP CROSSOVERS: To build mobility and strength in your torso by separating
hips and shoulders.
Starting position: Lie face up on the floor, arms and shoulders extended out at your
sides and flat, with palms down, heels on the floor, and feet pointed toward ceiling.
Procedure: Twist your bent legs to the right until they reach the floor, then twist to the
left. Repeat 5 to 10 times on each side.

PRONE PRESS-UPS (OR COBRA): To counter flexion (forward motions of sitting,

leaning and bending that we do throughout the day). Maintain correct spinal mechanics
and disc placement.
Starting position: Lie face down on the floor with your hands placed on your shoulders.
Procedure: Raise your upper body toward the ceiling at the same time as relaxing your
back. Keep your pelvis on the floor. Let your shoulders sag down toward your buttocks.
Hold for 1-2 seconds, slowly lower yourself back to the floor. Repeat 10 times.

Each of these stretches can be seen in a video on our website: www.ostpt.com.
