Based on our research, there has been limited number of projects (to be exact, all we have known

are three; and two of those are part of a provincial wide program, to be explained later on) done
by the Local Government Units in Trece Martires City. Most of the projects done by the LGUs are
more focused on infrastructures, city urbanization (and by city urbanization, we mean just
creating new buildings and of the like), and road repair and widening. Just that. And as one of the
citizens of the said city, we are witnesses to the continuous “urbanization” of the city and, the
lack of concern for environmental nor scientific and technological advancements in the city.
Although with that said, Trece Martires City have gone through steps with concern to science and
technology, especially with regards to environmental protection and waste management.
Although a project from 2006, the Provincial Wide Sanitary Landfill Project, has been a big part
of the waste management here in the city. However, there may be lapses, (due to inefficient
government leadership), it has helped the Treceños to have a designated, and sanitized place for
their garbages.
With that said, recently, although there has been no name or designated Municipal Act on this
project, there has been a cleanup operation in the town centre. They have moved all the sidewalk
vendors in different designated places in the local market, or in commercial buildings located in
the said town centre. This has helped reduce garbage in the streets and made it a little bit easier
for the traffic in our city.
Lastly, the popular project of Cavite, the Provincial Ordinance 007-2012, or known as “The
selective plastic ban and the use of eco bag ordinance of the Province of Cavite”. This has been
on going for many years and has provided many opportunities for local workers (creation of
eccobags) and has helped reduce the amount of plastic garbage generated, not just by the city,
but also in the whole province. With that said, Trece Martires City is part of the pioneers of the
said project and has benefitted from it ever since.
To add, there is also a societal project done by the LGU of Trece Maritres City, namely the CARE
project. This is a joint-agency project by the Department of Health and the Japan International
Agency. The project aims to create a 5 hectare rehabilitation facility in Brgy. Osorio. This is a on-
going project that aims to help the continuous decrease in drug usage in the said city, and along
with the surrounding municipalities.
