CHAPTER 1

The Problem and It’s background

I. Introduction

The adolescent male has been ignored in our society today, discussion of adolescent male

father and child bearing is traditionally a female issue. According to Andrew Mark Kiselica

adolescent fathers were largely ignored by society and were the victims of harmful stereotypes that

erroneously depicted them as callous males who sexually exploited their female partners and then

abandoned them and their babies. (M. Kiselica, 2014) This state of affairs is a part of large

phenomenon that the world has today prior to neglecting males about pregnancy, birth and

childbearing. Ages 15 to 19 are times when one people is at peak finding himself and for this stage

or process to be interrupted will make it hard for a said teen to be a father at a young age.

The young father himself still has a lot to learn in this world and at the stage of his life. A so

called father must be a pillar for the family, someone who the family can trust and hold on to.

According to Elizabeth Alderman, young fathers tend to enter workforce at an early life to provide

the needs of their child. As a result the young father needs to balance his daily life as a student and

as a father also that may be burdensome to him. (E. Alderman, 2008) This research aims to know
