Introduction
What will you be doing in this assignment. Look at the assignment brief and summarise what you have been asked to do.

In this presentation I have been asked to compare two websites. They are called mtv.com and manutd.com and I will compare the
features that improve presentation, usability, accessibility and performance. Also I will compare the strengths and weaknesses for both
websites. Finally, there will be a conclusion for which website is best.

This website is called mtv and the purpose is to show tv series and music to young adults and mostly teenagers who like to watch
shows and listen to music. The first page shows which tv series are popular and which shows are on every week and it also shows
which music is out and which is more popular. Also when you scroll down the first page it shows the most viewed videos that other
people have watched and shows the most featured music as well. As soon as you are on the first page you can see the drop down
menus on the top left side, the search bar icon on the right side and below the search bar icon you can see three social media icons
that you can click on.

Manutd.com is a football website and it is about the football team of manchester united, it is for the fans of that team and it is to show
people about who they are. Also the purpose of this is to show the fans and others more information about man utd.
The first page shows the highlight for the matches that man utd compete against any team. Also the top left side shows the logo of man
utd, right side shows what sponsors man utd have. It is an E-commerce website that you can buy stuff like t-shirts, shorts or you can
buy the whole kit. Also you can buy equipments and souvenirs from the website. It also has photos and videos on the first page that
you can click on and lets you know about the latest news.

The interface is impressive as it has lots of photos and links to which episodes for tv series are out. They have a drop
down menu of news to show the latest news, music and movies. Also it has a drop down menu for shows to present
what shows you can catch-up on, mtv app, tv schedule and show news. This site is dynamic because it changes
everyday to show new music and tv shows and it updates regularly. Also when you hover over the big text it highlights
blue and when you move away from the text it goes back to normal

The interface is eye-catching as it has lots of videos about what teams they have competed against. The colours represents the
team and has a logo at the top left. It doesn’t have a blog but has the news of what matches they are going to have, who is injured
and who is joining the team. Also it has a drop down menu so that it shows you what type of page you want to go to. You have the
option to sign up to the website so you can receive the latest updates. The site often updates if they have a match. The site is
dynamic because it changes all the time like the prices of their t-shirts, the news of what's going on. Also it has hyperlinks so when
you click on them it takes you to another webpage and when you hover over the menu it shows multiple links on where you want to
go.

What does it look like? What is the colour of the page? Colour of the text? Size of the text? It is a modern look to appeal
to a younger audience or does it appeal to an older audience? Why? Is there lots of text or more graphics? Are there
links to social media?
It looks kind of alright and acceptable as it shows photos and some stories of people who are actors, actresses and
singers. The colour of the page is black and white which is quite plain and not colourful. The colour of the text is white
and black which is formal and plain. It is for a younger audience but for the text and the background it appeals to an
older audience because older attend to read the news. There are links to social media like facebook, twitter and
instagram. There is a lot more graphics than text on the homepage. The size of the text is big for the name of the series
or music and small for the details of the series and music.

Useability
Are there any hyperlinks or buttons? How easy is it to navigate through the website. Are the menus easy to use? Is it easy to find
information? There are photos and it has text which you click on and takes you straight to another website. Also there is a search bar that
you can type which tv shows you want to find and watch or which music you want to find and listen to. It is quite easy to go through the
website. If you scroll down the page the menu bar stay on top so you don’t have scroll back up and you can go back to see tv shows,
music or the news. It is also easy to find more information about the website. When you scroll down to the bottom page you have different
options to click on.

Accessibility
Are there descriptions of videos/images when you hover over the slides? Are suitable colours used for people who have a visual
impairment? What has the website done to cater for people with a visual or hearing impairment?
When you hover over the image the texts turns from white to blue which shows that you can click on the image which takes you to
another website. Suitable colours like black and white is used for people who are colourblind. Also when you hover over the navigation
bar you can see that when you hover over the shows button it automatically drops down so that you can see the options that you can
go on.

Performance
Have a look at the website in Chrome and Internet Explorer. Does the website perform well in both? If so, why? If not, why? Use
Google inspect element and have a look at the website in different devices and comment on how they look. The website is faster on
chrome because it takes up less space and memory. Whereas, the website is slower on internet explorer because it takes up more
memory and space. The difference is that internet explorer has bigger writing, however chrome has smaller writing and has its own
page speeds insight page and this measures how fast how it can load.

It has the search bar that allows to search what
you looking for which suggests that it is easier
for people to look what they are looking for to
watch and listen.
They have kept it simple by using a dull colour
like black and bright colours like white and blue.
They have social media links to see their
facebook or twitter page so you can see more

WEAKNESSES
Comment on the weaknesses of the site.
They haven’t used enough colours to make it
look bright, instead they have used only a simple
white colour and a bit of blue.
The pictures and videos are crowded and not
spaced out so you can’t tell if the pictures are
separate.
It has got too much videos and not enough
detailed information about the website and
about the series and music.

It looks like it stands out and eye-catching as it shows what news does man utd put up on their website. The colour of the
page is white for the background, red for the top and a stip of black below the red. The heading of the text is big and bold
and colour of the text is black. Not only appeals to a younger audience but it does appeal to an older audience because
it is not big words like kid want to read. Also an older audience would want to read about the news and buy stuff online
from the website. There is more graphics but less text which is really for a younger audience and there are links to social
media sites.

Usability

Are there any hyperlinks or buttons? How easy is it to navigate through the website. Are the menus easy to use? Is it easy to find
information?
There are hyperlinks to social media website and sponsors. For example, if you click the instagram icon then it will take you straight
to their instagram page. If you click on the sponsor ‘adidas’ then it will go to a page where it talks about how they got that sponsor.
Also they have a navigation bar which includes different drop down menus which also has more information about the team. If you
want to find out what news they have then you can hover on the navigation bar where it says ‘news’ and gives you a list of what type
of news you want to see. Furthermore, on the top right side there is a search icon. When you click on it you can type something that
you are looking for.

Accessibility

When you hover over the image or video it zooms in a bit and when you move from it, goes back to normal but there is no
descriptions when you hover over the image and video. Red won’t be suitable for colour blind people because if the see a red
colour they think it may be a green colour.

Performance Have a look at the website in Chrome and Internet Explorer. Does the website perform well in both? If so,
why? If not, why? Use Google inspect element and have a look at the website in different devices and comment on how they look.
Take a screenshot of the different views.

The performance of the website is better on chrome for mobile phone, computer and laptop because it is faster, loads up more
quicker. However, the performance of the website on internet explorer for computer and laptop is not better because it is slower
than chrome and it takes time to load up. Also internet explorer loads the man utd website to show big text on in, however chrome
loads the website with small text.

Conclusion/which website is the best
Which website do you prefer the best and why? Do you like the features? Do you like the navigation bar? Colour? Font type?

In my opinion I like the man utd website better because the features are better, it has more brighter colours than mtv, the navigation
bar is more better because it has loads of drop down menus. Also it has more text, pictures and videos and it is spaced out and not
crowded like mtv. Furthermore, the layout is better, the font is acceptable and it is my favourite website for football.
