00:02 to help protect and study them really 00:04 crazy and maybe dangerous but Jack is a 00:06 trained expert do not do what Jack does 00:08 seriously approaching and handling wild 00:11 animals can be dangerous really just 00:13 don't do it I'm in Australia trying to 00:22 get close to its most famous animal the 00:26 kangaroo look at this so precious this 00:35 is a little baby Joey agile wallaby 00:37 Australia has lots of hopping animals 00:40 the smaller ones are called Wallabies 00:43 and the big ones are kangaroos but 00:45 generally if you look like this people 00:48 call you a kangaroo they hop around and 00:51 that allows them to escape from 00:53 predators including the dingoes and 00:54 snakes Wallabies are marsupials meaning 00:58 the babies feed and grow in their 00:59 mother's pouch adult Wallabies can swim 01:02 if they need to escape predators and 01:04 they have very strong tails that they 01:06 can use as a third leg for support at 01:08 this age four and a half months usually 01:11 it would be in a pouch of the mother the 01:13 caring of a Gerry this size is 24 hours 01:16 round-the-clock work that would include 01:18 frequent feeding in the pouch of his 01:20 mother he would be getting that over 01:22 time 01:24 but in this case I rescued the little 01:26 guy from the side of a road without the 01:29 protection of his mother's pouch he 01:30 needs immediate care so I'm on my way to 01:33 a kangaroo rescue center called Nina's 01:35 art yeah good morning hi I'm Jack how 01:41 can I help ya yeah I found a little Joey 01:43 on the side of a road little baby oh 01:46 thank you yes a little edge oh so I was 01:49 a bit worried that actually he was a bit 01:51 hotter ste maybe been there the whole 01:53 night does he look okay probably being 01:56 there a while because he's really hungry 01:58 see he's chewing on the pouch and it's 02:00 really really hungry so we'll go over 02:02 and get him warm you got a hospital here 02:04 yeah and it comes in handy I can tell 02:07 you 02:07 [Music] 02:09 I'm gonna take them out of your snake 02:11 bag I'm gonna put in this little blanket 02:13 here this move funny rug I'm gonna wrap 02:15 him up 02:16 I can't generate heat until he gets here 02:18 I pad if you'll just hold him until I 02:20 make some milk for him oh come wait to 02:24 feed him this should be fine 02:27 hey he's trying to drink shall we 02:30 sometimes it takes him three days to 02:32 take the nipple oh there he goes I've 02:39 never fed a baby human but now this is 02:42 my first time feeding a kangaroo here's 02:44 kind of fitting 02:47 thanos it that's great 02:52 did a wonderful thing I feel very 02:55 attached to miss Jerry now we may have 02:58 to call him Jack yeah oh I love it if 03:01 you didn't call him Jack Nina has 03:05 successfully rehabbed countless Jerry's 03:07 over the years and it's amazing that my 03:09 little jury has the chances of survival 03:12 in a year's time my jury are be in the 03:14 same position these juries are every 03:16 year old and ready for release back into 03:18 the wild 03:19 now there's another young jury that is 03:21 ready to take that step first we have to 03:23 catch it around so this is the best way 03:33 of actually handling a kangaroo their 03:36 tails extremely strong their legs would 03:38 break if I was holding their legs so 03:40 that's actually how you catch a kangaroo 03:41 by the tail okay well that's amazing 03:45 feeling just releasing an animal into 03:48 the wild but actually it's been safe 03:50 this is just incredible she didn't know 03:53 rush to leave the safety of Nina's Ark I 03:55 guess I understand that but she'll 03:58 eventually make her way into the bush 04:00 we're gonna be monitoring that kangaroo 04:02 over the next eight days seeing how this 04:05 jury comes back here into the safe haven 04:07 and goes back into the wild these really 04:10 are her first hops of freedom and I 04:13 can't wait for my Joey to end up in the 04:15 same position as her 04:21 look at him there okay I think that's it 04:23 he's just waving goodbye goodbye join me 04:27 again to see more of Australia's most 04:29 incredible animals 04:35 [Music]
