Music Coordinator – Job Description

Duties include coordinating the music ministry of the church, working in a


collegial context to expand and integrate the church’s music program, work with
pastors on the liturgical expression of music in worship.

Purpose: To equip, enable and inspire all people of the United Church of Christ in
the Philippines Burnham Park (UCCP) in deepening our musical experience
together. The Music Coordinator provides leadership within a collegial context
expanding and integrating our current music program.

General Job Description: The Music Coordinator at UCCP provides direction,


inspiration and assistance for established and emerging musical groups. This
person will work closely with all church staff to integrate and coordinate the
liturgical expression of music within the church.

Duties and Tasks

1. Serve on the church staff and attend all required meetings.

2. Work with musicians at all levels of musicianship and experience.

3. Coordinate with the Pastors , choir directors and the Worship and Music Team
with regards to music for all the worship services.

4. Coordinate with all the church musicians .

5. Provide support and resources for the established and emerging music
ensembles and soloists.
6. Enhance and expand the existing music program.

7. Increase involvement of all people at UCCP to realize their gifts of music.

8. Interact in a professional manner.

Qualifications

1. Professional musical training and experience required.

2.Major in Music or B.S in Music , Master of Christian Education in Music or its


equivalent with at least three (3) years experience in music ministry.

3. Experience with a variety of musical ensembles and understanding of their


individual needs.

4. Familiarity with the breadth and depth of musical styles and ability to integrate
same into worship and liturgy.

5. Fundamental understanding and respect for the faith, affirmations and


traditions of UCCP.

6. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.

7. Flexibility in scheduling work hours.

8. Ability and skills to collaborate, motivate, and empower others.

9. Give direction to a music ministry plan or visitation.

10. Prepare an annual music budget for approval and administer the approved
budget in coordination with the choir conductors

11. Cooperate with socio-civic and interdenominational Organizations,


local,national, relative to spiritual and moral regeneration.

12. Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned to him by the
church council and /or the Senior Pastor.
Working relationship

I report to Church Council The Senior pastor

Reporting to me

Choir director/directors, instrumentalists and song leaders

I work with The Pastoral team, Liturgy , choir directors, Instrumentalists and
choir members .
Compensation: To be determined by the church Cabinet based on education and/or experience. No
other benefits and compensation will be offered for this part-time position.

Time: The position entails a minimum of 24 hours/month for 11 months (approximately 6 hours/week),
to be divided among preparation, coordination, appropriate meetings and worship services.

Evaluation and Accountability: The Music Coordinator receives supervision from the Senior Pastor. This
position will receive guidance and support from the WSL/ACT. A performance evaluation will be held at
three months of tenure and at least annually thereafter
