1 TAKE CARE INSTRUCTION - MX MACHINES

To ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of these core components, the following actions
will be carried out:
• Routine brake tests will be carried out at a frequency of once every 6 months, along with a visual
check to assess the general condition and cleanliness of the equipment.
• Appropriate responses to any identified non-conformance will be carried out according to the
enclosed process.
• Each frontline will organize itself to run and manage the process with a nominated responsible
person reporting directly to senior Frontline management.
• The Front line Quality department is responsible for checking and following up the red /yellow flag
situation locally as a part of the quality system.

This document applies to MX machinery equipped with V3F drives and other MX applications without
an automatic brake test feature.

2 DEFINITIONS

Term Definition
ASG is a maintenance guideline instruction that is used as part of normal
ASG
planned preventive maintenance visit.
AS is a maintenance instruction that is used when replacement or repair is
AS
required.
CORRECTIVE A corrective action removes the source or cause of non-conformance in
ACTION reliable manner allowing return to normal maintenance process.
A quick fix is short-term actions to allow the elevator to continue to operate
QUICK FIX safely. It always requires more frequent tests until corrective action is
completed.
Flag is the result of brake test and visual inspection. It is intended to assist
recording and planning of corrective actions. Final responsibility for carrying out
FLAG
appropriate corrective actions lies with the supervisor and maintenance
technician in line with the ASG instructions.
Red flag - one sided brake test has resulted to unsatisfactory result requiring
the immediate actions. A quick fix needs to be taken to allow the elevator to
RED FLAG operate safely and initiation of corrective actions. A weekly site visit is required
to verify safe operation before corrective actions have been taken. Elevator
cannot be taken in use until elevator has passed the brake test.
Orange flag - brake test passed, but machine has oil deposits on the brake
drum or has signs of imminent contamination requiring corrective actions. A
ORANGE FLAG quick fix needs to be taken to allow the elevator to operate safely and initiation
of corrective actions. A monthly site visit is required to verify safe operation
before corrective actions have been taken.
Yellow flag - brake test passed, brake drum free of dirt and lubricant
YELLOW FLAG contamination, but machine rotor is not clean requiring source to be identified
and corrective or preventative maintenance actions.
GREEN FLAG Green flag - brake test passed and no visual contamination.
