2. Korea University Undergraduate Scholarship for Latin American Students

Korea University (KU) introduced a new scholarship award program for Mexican students with
outstanding academic ability. KU hopes to provide undergraduate study opportunities to up to
twenty Mexican national students by awarding academic scholarships from the academic year of
2017.

3. Korea University Global Friends Scholarships for Latin America

Korea University launched an innovative KU Latin America project called ‘KU Global Friends
Scholarships’ in an effort to create educational opportunities for students of Latin American
countries.

KU has signed collaborative agreements with various educational organisations as well as


ministries of education to further strengthen its ties with Latin American countries and they are:

- The Ministry of Education of Peru


- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Costa Rica
- The Ministry of National Education of Colombia
- The National Council for Science and Technology of the United Mexican States
- The Secretariat of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation of the Republic
of Ecuador
Applicants can learn more about details and also can apply for the KU Global Friends Scholarship
through the organisational bodies above in the relevant countries of their origin. Outstanding
applicants will be able to benefit from tuition waiver, as well as allowances for room and board
throughout their undergraduate study at Korea University.

Furthermore, KU plans to accelerate its Latin American project by expanding its reach to Argentina,
Brazil and Chile in the near future.

4. Academic Calendar

Calendar Dates

Spring semester (semester 1) Beginning of March – Middle of June

Summer holiday Middle of June – End of August

Fall semester (semester 2) Beginning of September – Middle of December

Winter holiday Middle of December – End of February


 Student can start the academic year in either semester.

International Student Assistants (KUISA) will help ease your transition to Korea and KU in no

The Korea-Yonsei Games serve as the most hotly contested collegiate rivalries between the two
of the most prestigious private universities in Korea. It is a long tradition to hold various festivals
before and after the friendship games and the games served as the most passionately contested

10. Live on campus

There is an excellent supply of accommodation both on and off-campus. The University


recommends the newly built and modern Anam Global House or Frontier Hall for first year
students, particularly those moving away from home for the first time.

Nestled in lush mountain-side greenery, KU’s on-campus housing provides furnished rooms
(including bed, desk, chair and bookshelf), high-speed internet, 24-hour and year-round
security/reception to assist anyone who needs help, shared common rooms, in-house laundry
rooms, study space and various social activities and so on. All KU halls of residences are smoke
free.

Centrally located in Seoul, there are shops, restaurants, cafes of all kinds and two subway stations
within 5-10 minutes of walking distance nearby the campus.

2. For Nursing and Medicine, application is open for freshman in the Spring semester intake only.

3. According to the Regulations for Student Enrollment of the College of Education, the acceptance
rate of international students cannot exceed 10% of the admission quota, and transfer applicants
will not be able to apply.
