Neem Oil Facts & Information

Neem Oil is a vegetable pressed by product that comes from the plant. The plant is usually
yellow to brown, has a bitter taste, and smells like garlic. The plant is a evergreen tree which is
considered a endemic to India.

Neem Oil isn't just for treating your garden from bugs organically. It can also be used for detoxifying the
blood, strengthening the immune system, improve liver function, and maintain a healthy digestive and
respiratory system.

You may find Neem in products like soaps, dog shampoos, toothpastes, and some cosmetics.

It can kill all stages of life like eggs, larvae, and adults. Neem Oil works by getting rid of insects by acting
as a antifeedant, a hormone disruptor, or by simply smothering.

When Neem Oil acts as a hormone disruptor it stops the bug from transforming into its next stage of life
by disrupting the regulatory hormones.

The seeds off the plant hold the highest form of concentration for the insecticidal compound. The
compound Azadirachtin will force the insects to stop eating the leaves.

When Neem Oil is removed from the seeds, all the Azadirachtin and related substances separate from the
oil. The remaining oil with no Azadirachtin is called Hydrophobic extract.

Hydrophobic extract is made up of fatty acids and Glycerides. Which are substances that are commonly
found in foods.

Neem can kill up to 200 different types of bugs like Aphids, mites, scale, whiteflies, caterpillars, and
thrips. It can even help with the mosquitos in the garden.

If used correctly it won't harm bees, ladybugs, or butterflies.

You can use it as a foliar spray and can control lawn grubs. Also, it is a great fungicide for powdery
mildew, black spot, scab, rust, and leaf spot.

If you're going to use it as a fungicide spray make sure to use spray the plants 7 to 14 days.

The half life of Neem Oil in water is 48 minutes to 4 days. It breaks down rapidly on the leaves, the half
life on the leaves is 1 to 2 ½ days.

Neem is organic, biodegradable, and safe to use all the way up to the day of harvest.

Azadirachtin: organic insecticide.

Glyceride: an ester of glycerol and fatty acids that occur naturally as fats or fatty oils.
