Steering Wheel - Calibrate

SMCS - 1439-524; 4309-524

Personal injury can result from rotating and moving parts. Stay clear of
all rotating and moving parts.

Never attempt adjustments while the machine is moving or the engine is

running unless otherwise specified.

The machine must be parked on a level surface and the engine stopped.

Attach a "Do Not Operate" or similar warning tag to the start switch
and controls before servicing, repairing, or making adjustments to the
machine.

Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.

Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or

near the machine.

To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine
is clear of personnel and obstructions before operating the machine.

Calibrate the Left Steering Wheel

1. Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.

2. Move propel lever (3) to the NEUTRAL position.

3. Rotate speed dial (2) to the MINIMUM position.

4. Move parking brake switch (1) to the ON position.

5. Move screed lift switch (4) to the RAISE position. Completely lift the screed.

6. Engage screed lock mechanism (5) on both sides of the machine.

 7. Move screed lift switch (4) to the FLOAT position. Move the screed lift switch on the right instrument
panel to the FLOAT position.

Note: The screed lift switch on both instrument panels must be in the FLOAT position in order for the
screed to lower.

8. After the screed is resting on the screed lock mechanisms, move screed lift switch (4) to the HOLD
position.

9. Move throttle control switch (6) to the LOW IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less
than 1 second.

10. After the engine reaches low idle, move engine start switch (7) to the OFF position.

11. Move engine start switch (7) to the ON position. Do not start the engine.

12. Press home key (8) .

13. Press down key (9) until "Service" is highlighted on the display screen.

14. Press OK key (10) .

15. Press down key (9) until "Calibrations" is highlighted on the display screen.

16. Press OK key (10) .

17. Press down key (9) until "Steering Wheel" is highlighted on the display screen.
18. Press OK key (10) .

19. Press OK key (10) in order to begin the calibration.

21. Hold the steering wheel against the left spring. Do not compress the spring.

22. Press OK key (10) .

23. Hold the steering wheel against the right spring. Do not compress the spring.

24. Press OK key (10) .

25. The display should now read "CALIBRATION COMPLETE". Push back key (11) to return to
calibration screen.

26. Push home key (8) in order to exit the calibration screen.

27. Move engine start switch (7) to the OFF position.

Calibrate the Right Steering Wheel

1. Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.

4. Move parking brake switch (1) to the ON position.

5. Move screed lift switch (4) to the RAISE position. Completely lift the screed.

7. Move screed lift switch (4) to the FLOAT position. Move the screed lift switch on the right instrument
panel to the FLOAT position.

position.
