ABSTRACT
Wells are one of the underground sources of water that are widely used for
daily needs. Water consumed by the community must be sourced from a good
spring and free from physical, chemical, biological and radioactive pollution.
Requisites for maximum well water total E. coli is 50/100 ml. The level of risk of
pollution of dig well is also determined from the aspect of construction and
location of clean water source facilities. This study purposes to determine the
relationship of physical construction of dug well with E. coli pollution at Desa
Meunasah Meucat, Kecamatan Nisam, Kabupaten Aceh Utara in 2018. This study
was an analytic observational study using a cross sectional design, data were
analyzed by Fisher's Exact Test. The samples were taken by proportional random
sampling method. The results of the statistical analysis showed that there was a
relationship between the source of pollution, the well's lip and the well floor with
E. coli contamination and there was no relationship between the well’s lip and the
waste final drainage with E. coli pollution.
Keywords: physical construction, dig well, E. coli pollution
