Conclusions – (from Building Better Essays by Gina B. Hogan) The conclusion paragraph is
the last paragraph in the essay designed to bring the discussion to a satisfying close. It is
your last chance to persuade readers of your point of view or to impress yourself upon
them as a writer and thinker. It should give the reader the feeling that you have said all
you want to say about your topic. Its function is primarily to establish a sense of closure.
When you start a conclusion, consider using any or all of the following methods.

 Restate the thesis statement in DIFFERENT WORDS

 Make a final observation about the focused topic
 Offer a thoughtful remark about the topic
 Summarize the supporting paragraphs in the body of your essay
 An acronym – RORS – Restating/Observing/Remarking/Summarizing

At the end of the conclusion, you want to leave your readers with a memorable impression
about your topic and thesis statement. There are several ways to create memorable
impressions.
