Good morning to Puan Kanakambal and to all my friends.

Today I’m going to be speaking about an issue that will or has affected everyone in this room.
Some may get it worse than others, some might take part and not even notice. Overall I’m
talking about a matter that needs to be discussed. If you haven’t guessed by now, I’m talking
about bullying. What is bullying? Bullying is an act of aggressive and unwanted behavior that
involves intimidating and physically harming another person. Among school age children,
bullying involves a power imbalance of the stronger attacking the weaker.

Bullying can come in many forms and it doesn’t have to stick to the definition. Even something
small like making a rude or insensitive gesture can be bullying. Bullying is one of the main
problem especially in school around the world. There have been reports of many cases where
students hurt or even kill each other because of bullying.

Too examplify, just in one months, two series of tragedies has drawn attention of the whole
people in Malaysians of how two youths died from injuries inflicted by their bullies. The first
was Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnain, 21, a naval cadet at the National Defence University of
Malaysia (UPNM) who was allegedly tortured over many days. Zulfarhan was said to have
been bound, beaten and burned with an iron, and 80% of his body was covered in bruises and
burn marks. The second was another student, T Nhaveen, who was believed to have been
physically and sexually assaulted by his former schoolmates in Penang.

Ok, now we go to the next topic. The affect of bullying. As you know, bullying can affect
everyone who involved. Those who are bullied and those who bully others.

One of the effects of bullying is that the people who have been bullied sometimes become so
upset, scared, or depressed that they see no worth in themselves and no way out of their
torment. There have been countless reports over the past few years of students committing
suicide because they were bullied. Meanwhile, there are times when victims see no recourse
but to seek revenge by serious acts of violence against the bully and instigators. As a result
of bullying, people can lose their ability to love and trust, denying them the chance to
experience a quality relationship later in their life.

Students who persistently bully others have been found to have later issues in mental health
and educational outcomes, as well as showing criminal and anti-social behaviour. Moreover,
bullying also bringing harm to ourself as the five Malaysian National Defence University
students were jointly charged with murdering Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnain, 21, under Section
302 of the Penal Code, which carries the mandatory death penalty

In short, bullying needs to stop! Bullying is a criminal act. Everyone must be aware on this
problem. Just be strong, keep your head up and do your best to stop bullying! We should
cooperate and work hand in hand to curb and prevent this culture from keep spreading in our
country.Remember, bullying is everyone business! Thanks for listening to me today and giving
me respect while I speak.
