SITUATION:

MANZANAREZ GENERAL HOSPITAL is planning for its inauguration, it will be a 250-


bed state-of the art medical facility. Part of the nursing service’s long-term plan is to
have a well disciplined and competent nurse, so part of its strategy is putting focus on
the staff’s task-oriented performance by employing close supervision. To do this,
included in its tactical plan is to narrow down span of control and increase the number
of managers. The Director of Nursing Service wants to emphasize her authority and
wants to highlight the solid lines in the organizational chart, so all personnel would be
guided on who reports to who.

A. What do you think is the ideal organizational structure and pattern suited for
Manzanares General Hospital? (support your answers)
- Flat or Decentralized Structured because it give staffs to developed their own
skills and have their own initiative to do things on their own. Functional
organization shows that it gives staffs responsibilities to their own organization
and finish their work on time without delays .
B. What type of staffing do you think is needed for recruitment & hiring of Nursing
Personnel?
- There are two types of staffing but in Manzanares General Hospital,
Decentralize staffing are suitable because it allows the manager to do decision that
know what are the do’s and don’t’s in their area.
C. What modality do you think is suited for this hospital?
- Functional nursing are suitable in Mnazanare General Hospital ince it I task-
oriented it promotes time and learned things that they can master and function highly on
their own are that can give highest level of care.
