Introduction:
My name is Aimen Zafar and I am a student of MSc development studies at PIDE.I have
completed my education until FSC from I.M.C.G, F-7/4, Islamabad. After that I got admitted into
F.G College for girls F-7/2, Islamabad and pursued my education in BSc Psychology. I actively
participated in sports during my time at school and college. I have also won many trophies in
extracurricular activities like cricket, badminton etc. I took break for an year before joining PIDE
due to some personal reasons. I initially wanted to do Masters in Psychology but after
discussing with my father and taking opinions from some other family members I decided to go
for MSc Development studies as it had a more promising future for my professional career.

Today is my first day at PIDE. I had taken a long break from education so I feel like it will be a bit
difficult for me to get back on track. I am a little nervous yet excited for what this university has
to offer me. I eagerly want to learn new stuff, refine my skills and explore my own self most
importantly. I am also looking forward to meeting people and making friends. I hope this
journey turns out to be worthy. Let’s see what god has planned out for me.

Its been two weeks since I’ve joined PIDE. University life is really tough. I am still trying to fit in,
my courses seem a bit unfamiliar to what I’ve studied before and I mostly find myself
daydreaming during lectures but I have promised myself to work hard and get good grades. I
know it will take a lot of effort but I’ll fight my way through (In sha Allah), nothing is going to
bring me down.
Not to forget, though it’s not always rainbows and butterflies but university life is definitely the
golden period of your life.

This week has been really hectic and I am relieved that it’s finally the weekend. I have been
really confused about what elective course should I take. I have no background in this field
that’s why I was really nervous.
We were taken for a small get to know each other session by our seniors to chemistry huts. We
had to introduce ourselves. They also did our ragging but everyone was really friendly. They
also served us samosas and cold drinks. It was really fun and I enjoyed a lot. I feel like I am
going to enjoy my time here.

Initially, I thought that it will be really difficult for me to make new friends but I’ve started
hanging out with a group of people and I happen to like them a lot. All of them are really well-
mannered and make me feel comfortable around them. I go out with them for having lunch.
Today we hung out at chemistry huts and I enjoyed my time there.

Managing university life along with my household responsibilities sometimes gets really difficult
and I find myself really exhausted. But giving up is not an option for me.

It’s getting really cold in Islamabad. I love this change of weather. Today I and my friends at
university decided to go for a long walk. We played some music and talked about lot of
interesting stuff. We also bought French fries from the hawker outside PIDE. I felt refreshed
after that.
My group and I decided to do group study today. One of friends who has good command over
this subject taught us. Everybody asked questions to her and she answered them really well. It
was a very interactive session and I also cleared many of my confusions. I found out studying
like this to be more effective. My group has decided that we will do combine studies regularly
now.

It has been a really long time I have visited my phupo’s place. So I and my younger brother
Ahmed decided that we will spend our whole day there. We went there in the afternoon. I
watched a horror movie with my cousin. Initially, we thought it was going to scary but it turned
out to be very unrealistic and we laughed really hard during most of the scenes.
The movie was based on an Indian family who was cursed by a priest. The fake wigs and
artificial makeup of the priests made them look funny rather than scary.

We had dinner and did some chit chat. I felt really relax and happy there.

Today was my best friend’s birthday. We have been friends since class 6th. I and some of her
university fellows had decided to throw her a surprise birthday party at her home. I took off
from school and went to her house. She was not at home so we secretly decorated her room. I
pasted pictures of her on the wall and also decorated the walls with colorful lights. We blew
balloons and also decorated the birthday cake with candles. When she came back she was
really happy and surprised. It made me really happy to see her like that. We clicked a lot of
pictures. It was a memorable day of my life.

Today is the last day of 2017. This year has been a roller coaster of emotions for me. I shifted to
a new place, got admitted into university and made so many memories with people whom I
didn’t even know a year before. I had my good and bad days but things always turned out to
work in the best way possible. I am still in the process of finding myself and the purpose of my
life but I’ve made major improvements.
I haven’t made any new year resolutions but I’ve always strived to become a better human
being. So, this year I have decided I’ll be kinder, give more to the ones in need and serve
humanity as much as I can.
Bring it on 2018! I am ready for you.

Today is the first day of 2018. I am very excited for the fresh start of the new 365 pages of my
life. I am looking at these days as 365 new opportunities for becoming a better human being.
I had a really good at school at today. We discussed about the advancement of technology and
how it has brought massive changes in the life of Humans. Technology has made human life
easier. Earlier things that took days to complete can now be done by just one click. Technology
is becoming more and more Human Friendly and people with little knowledge can operate
smart phones and computers. But technology has its own drawbacks as well. It has given
people access to a lot of unethical stuff and people seem to be misusing it.

The first semester is finally coming to an end. I am little worried about the exams but I am also
relieved that I have completed my first semester very well. Now, I have decided to make a
schedule of studying routine so that I can complete my preparation before exams. I scored well
in my mid terms so I am motivated and sure that I will do well in my finals too.
I am also excited about second semester and I hope it will bring new opportunities for me to
discover my field of interest in development studies.

I am really thankful to Allah for his blessings.
