Tony has been working with two companies that are different in various
aspects. First, unlike Reece, who allows managers to exercise considerable
freedom and autonomy, O’Grady has a bureaucracy structure. Second is how
employees treat one another. In Reece, teamwork is essential that it somehow
motivates other employees. Conversely, Tony is uncomfortable working at
O’Grady. Thus, affects his behavior towards the company. Hence, sometimes
it may reflect an individual’s work behavior and output. That is why getting
along with people in the corporate world is relevant, either it can help the
company or ruin them. Third is communication wherein with an open one like
in Reece, it is easier to access information and updates needed by anyone.
In this scenario, two options are available. First, Tony may leave and
opt to find another company. Advantages would be achieving personal goals
and expectations just like at Reece and further grow in that certain company.
In contrast, finding a new company will not be easy though his credentials
may suffice the standards. Given that Tony has been accepted, he does not
know if that certain company is the same with Reece. Hence, he may end up
working with a company comparable to O’Grady. Second, if he continues at
O’Grady he needs to adjust to its environment and culture. Here, Tony will
learn how to work in a different environment where his interpersonal relations
are developed. Thus, if he manages to succeed, he may persuade his leaders
to try changing the system into a decentralized one. This way, he can
encourage them to work as a team while individually exercising liberty which
may result to a friendly workplace. The downside is that it may be hard to
pursue top managers or leaders of the company and also the other employees.
However, Tony can practice his managerial skills in trying to get them involved
in restructuring their company’s culture. With the aforementioned
statements, the second option can be an ideal place for Tony because with
this setting, not only he but all of them might get motivated.
