PS III is a five-course equivalent integrated semester including half-time teaching and professional study in curriculum
design, leadership, advanced methods, and reflective practice. Intern Teachers are assigned full time to schools for the
semester during which they assume responsibility for approximately one-half of the teaching day. PS III professional study
is designed to complement and enhance the internship. The professional study components may occur on or off-campus
and are coordinated by the University Consultants in collaboration with Intern Teachers and school personnel.
Checklist
I was very privileged to have had the opportunity to worked with and observe Katelynne in the
classroom. Katelynne clearly demonstrated that she has chosen the right career path as she definitely is
cut out to be a teacher! Katelynne demonstrated that she has all the tools required to be a first-rate
teacher.
Her planning was exemplar. The long range, unit and lesson plans were very well thought out and very
thorough. Katelynne created a K&E Math 10/20 program which resulted in a compilation of hands-on
activities, worksheets, a unique checklist of accomplished outcomes and formative assessments. This
involved a great deal of planning and work to put together this program. I was able to observe one
lesson for this class and it truly met the needs of those students in the class. Katelynne undertook the
creation of a program for an autistic boy in grade six. Again, another program involving a tremendous
amount of work. Because of this effort, the young boy now has a program with definite course of
action.
Katelynne is a very caring individual who was able to develop a great rapport with her students and to
provide the accommodations needed to help them succeed. In the classroom, Katelynne demonstrated
great classroom management which allowed her to effectively facilitate the learning within the
classroom. The enthusiasm she provided in the classroom through the verbal/non-verbal
communication (melodic contour/infliction of her voice, animated, eye contact, smiling), her movement
around the classroom, the close monitoring of her students and working one-on-one with those students
requiring it proved that she indeed is more than ready to step into her own future classroom.
During her practicum, Katelynne proved to be a real team player! She took on all requests from her PS
III practicum school which included creating and carrying out a KnE program and the individualized
program mentioned above, providing learning support for grade six students, carrying out regular grade
six classes, being an advisor block leader, and carrying out extra-curricular activities! Clearly,
Katelynne demonstrated that she is a very willing individual whose support enhanced learning
opportunities for the students at the school! Just as importantly, the school staff was very appreciative
of her efforts and spoke very highly of Katelynne. Katelynne also spent a lot of her time assisting as a
learning assistance which was outside of her required classroom time - again demonstrating her
commitment to the students!
Katelynne will without question be a great addition to any school staff who would be lucky to have her.
I am very pleased to award Katelynne the passing grade for this practicum. I truly wish her the best in
her near future as a classroom teacher. I know she will make the teaching profession proud!
I have read the complete Final Report and certify that the assigned grade is: PASS
