 What recommendations can you suggest to improve the career of the

nursing graduates in SC-SIT for the next five (5) years?

 Enhance the office and the classrooms

 Improve the nursing facilities

 In my opinion, it's hard to apply for a good "paid" nursing position in

Cebu City, as there are a lot of competition, as well as some hospitals

doesn't accept nurses who have no work experience yet. Also, the salary

is lower to that compared to what BPO companies are offering, so many

nurses might not be devoted to their nursing career especially if they

are in a financial crisis.

 In my case, I applied for a "volunteer" or an unpaid nurse position at my

local hospital where eventually I got absorbed as a staff after a year of

service. I was able to tolerate it because I was financially backed up by

my parents that time. Thanks to this, I was religious at my nursing

career, finished my MS-MAN, promoted to infection control nurse, then

to Chief Nurse OIC, and finally as a UK-RN this January 2018.

 I believe that my Alma matter had mold me into what I am today and I

feel that there is no need to radically change the curriculum. However,

I had some of my classmates who weren't able to pass the NLE in 1

take. I believe that we should recommend attending the Carl Balita

review center, or at least have ample amount of Carl Balita review books

available in the library as it has pictures / mnemonics to aid in the

studying of nursing topics (in my time I can't afford to buy books on my

own. Also might be a good guide even on first year of nursing college).

Afterwards, it will be just a matter of preference where the new nursing

grad will apply to, preferably into a nursing-related profession.

 And if they want to work abroad, maybe an education seminar into

applying for POEA accredited companies to avoid illegal human

trafficking.

 Also, maybe having a mock interview for a visa application (including

show money related matters where the visa officer has a mean and

demeaning attitude) as well as have interviews done by foreigners to

bolster confidence is a great idea, as I had a fair share of bad experience

relating to this. Hope these helps :)
