NATIONAL DISASTER RESILIENCE MONTH

The NATIONAL DISASTER RESILIENCE MONTH with a theme: “KATATAGAN SA KALAMIDAD

AY MAKAKAMTAN KAPAG SAPAT ANG KAALAMAN SA KAHANDAAN”, observed this July
2018 emphasizes the common peoples’ resilience during catastrophe.

Lack of consistent public awareness program, insufficient funds for relief and
evacuation and lack of manpower and equipment for emergency situations make life
miserable.
How should we respond to this routine challenge when it strikes?
We must include in curricular offerings of formal education a hands-on learning
experience on disaster preparedness and awareness program.

There is no substitute for educating our people in the reality of natural calamities.
To be forewarned is to be forearmed.

The members of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines in our school were given
trainings on how to give first aid during emergencies. It is evident that emergencies may
happen anytime, anywhere and the students are always at risk. This simple training
exhibits that students’ welfare is the school authorities’ utmost concern.

The school has allocated a small amount for the acquisition of vital first aid
equipment that students will benefit during emergency times. One of this equipment is
the spine board intended to carry victims with ease.

The first aid kit. This boosts vigor to both rescuers and victims. During
emergencies, knowing that you have something to use to help or save somebody is a
big relief. If you are the victim, it brightens your hope to survive if you know that there
are things and ways to at least lessen the pain but increase the chance of survival.

The school headed by the chief has enlisted members of the faculty and staff to the
organized departments in cases of emergency with their specified tasks and their
personal accountability.

The force of law must be implemented to punish those who enrich themselves in
any wrong doing as well as those who ignore the prevailing laws. For emergency cases,
hotlines have been posted inside the campus for its purposes. Anybody can dial the
right number for the right case.

Disasters are inevitable however ardent we are to stop them, but the knowledge,
the know how to is very important in order to survive.

The school provided evacuation plan for each classroom to guide students on
how to make their safest exit especially during earthquakes. The plan includes their
position within the campus and the possible route that they need to follow to safely
vacate their rooms and it also points out the safest place they can cover themselves for
a moment.

To complete the plan, an overall vicinity map is provided for students and faculty to
visualize the flow of their exit if needed to abandon the school premises.
This will ensure the safety of the populace within the vicinity to reduce the occurrence
of casualties. This is the best preparation that the authorities can tackle to manage
calamity casualties.

Disasters are inevitable however ardent we are to stop them, but the knowledge,
the know how to is very important in order to survive. Survival then depends on the
awareness and preparedness of anybody within the walls of the school premises.
