1. By conducting a suitable test on given DC machine which is supplied by a separate DC source

and draw its internal, external characteristics.

2. 1. Conduct a suitable experiment to obtain the OCC, internal and external characteristics of the
given DC machine which delivers electrical power, has a parallel field winding and capable of
building its own field.
2.
3. 3. Identify the different ways of connecting the two field windings of DC machine which is based
on the principle that when a conductor is rotating in a magnetic field, a voltage will be
generated in the conductor. Plot the voltage – current characteristics of DC machine when the
flux produced by both the field windings opposes each other.
4.
4. 5. Identify the different ways of connecting the two field windings of DC machine which is based
on the principle that when a conductor is rotating in a magnetic field, a voltage will be
generated in the conductor. Plot the voltage – current characteristics of DC machine when the
flux produced by both the field windings aid each other.
6.
5. Obtain the electrical and mechanical characteristics of a DC motor whose torque varies with
square of the armature current.

6. Obtain the electrical and mechanical characteristics of constant flux motor.

7. 7. Obtain the performance characteristics on compound motor at 50%, 75%, 100% of loading by
conducting suitable experiment.
a) Output power Vs Load current
b) Output power Vs Efficiency
c)
8. Performing the no load test on a machine having a constant flux and predetermine the
efficiency i)when it acts as a motor ii) when it acts as a generator.

9. Plot the variation of speed by varying (i) Armature voltage to a particular field current and (ii)
The field current at a particular armature voltage.
10. Conduct a Back to Back test on the given DC machines and determine the efficiency of each
machine by regeneration method.

11. By conducting a direct load test on the given single phase static machine. Determine the
efficiency and regulation for various load conditions.

12. Conduct a load test on the given static three phase machine which works under the principle of
mutual induction and plot the efficiency versus load power characteristics.

13. Draw the equivalent circuit, with parameters referred to primary side of a single phase static
machine by conducting a suitable test.

14. Predetermine the efficiency and regulation under various load conditions and power factor by
conducting a suitable test on single phase static device.

15. Conduct a Back to Back test on a two identical non-rotating electrical machines and plot the
regulation and efficiency characteristics for quarter load, half load and full load at 0.8 p.f. Lag,
0.8 p.f. lead.

16. Conduct a suitable experiment and calculate the core losses in the single phase transformer by
varying frequency and hence separate the hysteresis and eddy current losses.
